1. I see you in a hurry, O camel driver
So be patient, for man was created of haste

2. Spread peace upon crowded waters that immerse him
With tears from my eyes, and do not read upon the pebbles

3. And if you look to the bent staff
That stirs the wanderers, then do not settle on blame

4. I make excuses and devise in forging an apology
For disability is not for the resourceful man

5. I stood while yearning weakened me upon ruins
As if I am a ruin befallen on a camel

6. I roamed in its air and inhaled
A gentle breeze which it sent to my ailments

7. A generous land whose soil was not harmed
Except by the trailing of garment hems

8. Speak in various tongues, so say in warbling or chant
In clanging bells or humming spindle

9. Yet the hearts of people still stumble in it
From the mud of cheeks sinking in mire

10. Domes of the alive were built upon it
Thinking the lands got a share of states

11. When dust rises from the horses in it
Its lovers sprinkle it with rosewater

12. A house adorned with beauty left vacant
So jewelry whispered angrily at vacancy

13. Radiant white it lowered over my interior
And was sheathed from the interiors of silk in a scabbard

14. Like a gazelle, were it not for weakness in her glance
And the gazelle does not complain of symptoms of weakness

15. And it is said for the pretty boys among men about it
The gazelle disease, thus they transmit in the example

16. How can her lips not have honey when they stored
The bees' reserve in syrup of honey

17. Whoever desires attains the water of life through her
What was not attained before by Dhul Qarnayn

18. How often did her specter roam about me and the horizon was veiled
By a trailing robe of darkness draping down

19. How did her course become easy when the tresses
Trailed the length of night in a robe

20. And how did her rise to the longing one lighten
When heaviness makes her sit from the side of her neck

21. She takes shelter in a rabbit's burrow for a while
And sometimes climbs the ladder of wiles

22. When she sensed the purpose of determination and kept away
From me an eye's wink that the cold of evening concealed

23. Oh how good is he whom I gave for her sake
My hearing and sight in exchange for hosting

24. And the causes of separation disturbed her, so she shrank
Walking away while in her eyelids was the laziness of sleep

25. I laid my cheek for her path and said to her
I fear for you the rugged road so put on slippers

26. As cupbearers for her and a group who journeyed
Broke with her ankles the bending of the delicate palm

27. They traversed the deserts and ambitions lured them through her
Molded for traveling and saddles

28. So they passed the brooms of rest that were fortified
By phantoms of fear in the thickets of withering cane

29. After mounting the possession of ambition in
A sea of mirages and spurring it without pause

30. Be amazed by a ship that has a soul submerging it
Laboring vessels in water without moisture

31. Seriousness is the jerking of one serious who flies to
Afar when the momentous event occurs

32. It covers the expanse, the desert, and the ambition for her
Two sorts of fanciful and sandy delirium

33. Until it brings near the fringes of tents to
The refuge of the Most High and sanctuary of the fearful apprehensive

34. A man, son of Imran called upon his Lord saying show me,
Let me look upon You, so He said look upon the mountain

35. If he drew lines on his paper wearing garments
Gifting the feeble among the living and garments

36. And if he was prolific his magic expressed deceptions
Clarifying to them hearing of the blind deaf

37. And if he spoke, pearls slipped from his mouth
Into his lap while he is protected from errors

38. And if he assumed a position of authority
You'd find him as scholar in that work

39. And if he examined the states of stars, he knew
What destined times are in the unseen or expectations

40. They said, do you thank for his blessings, so I said yes
If given to me, a prolonged lifetime

41. He let me sleep under the shade of security when
Mountains of fear peeled off above my head like shadows

42. And I don't forget, nor will forget my clinging
To his sanctuary amidst difficulty and connection

43. When I meet with him in a stance, the cliffs
Glow from him with a flood of horses and steeds

44. I didn't know before the time of meeting him
That I see a footman in the shoes of a footman

45. O beneficial injurious, if his furious raged
It asked the viscera of people about sharp swords

46. Making them taste from his manners sometimes honey
Sweet, and other times smoldering poison in the honey

47. Take it Abu Hasan a sublime ode
That charmed the faces of kings before me

48. I exaggerated in it and did not neglect his eloquence
And my exaggeration is not due to failing

49. If another wished to rival it, it fails
For picked ripe dates are not like unripe dates

50. My mind inspired it a remarkable idea between people
And my eternity molded it without flaw

51. Sweet is the mouth of its reciter, so he thinks it
A drink imbibed amidst the brightness of the sandy expanse

52. And roses split from it for all immersed
In frivolity, joyous in the shadow of youth in bloom

53. While some ugly poetry with its connoisseur
Is like a hair in a morsel of choking
