1. Solace, O Abu al-Fadl,
For you are the highest mountain,

2. And if fate has wronged your family,
Time’s vicissitudes are clear.

3. So neither did life stretch out for you,
For you are religion and worldly life both,

4. Nor is there blame on fate,
Be it unkind or draw near.

5. When the necklace is unstrung
And the central pearl remains
