Had not made its sweetness bitter with its salts.

3. It is an abode where the tents' circles appeared
For the estranged, and its domes' suns intercepted.

ูุณู ููุจุงุจูู
4. They left like flocking gazelles, were it not for what I see
Of his emaciation, leanness, and wrinkled forehead.

5. Tears of his passions roam in his eyelids,
The water of his youth flowing on his cheek.

ุชุญุฏููุฑู ูู ุงูุฎูุฏูู ู
ุงุกู ุดูุจุงุจูู
6. The bough of acacia sways under his clothes,
And the moonlight of the night shines under his veil.

ูููุถุฆู ุจุฏุฑู ุงููููููู ุชุญุชู ูููุงุจูู
7. So beauty is what it hides of its apples
Secretly, and what it reveals of its sprouts.

ุง ููุจูุฏูู ู
ู ุนููููุงุจูู
8. Will our days return, O tents?
Or is there no way to it after its passing?

ูุง ุณุจููู ุฅููู ุจุนุฏู ุฐููุงุจูู
9. Days I ward off its blame with its blame
From me, and mix its cup with its pure wine.

10. For your cup-bearer served you the sweetest of its zones,
And its disappearing clouds adorned you by disappearing.

11. The slanderers have cast at us the arrow of estrangement
To be shot with the arrow of estrangement it shoots with.

ู ุจุณูู
ู ูุทูุนุฉู ุชูุฑู
ู ุจูู
12. If only time had made the hearts of our loved ones
Yearn for us as Qina son of Abdullah yearned, or his ruins.

ุงูู ุฃุตุงุจู ุญูุจูู ูููุจููู
ุจููุง ุงุจูู ุนุจุฏ ุงููู ุฃู ุจูุญุฑุงุจูู
13. With weapons the warrior repairs between its stabbing
and striking,
ูกูฃ. ุจุณูุงุญู ู
ูุนุชูููู ุงูุณูููุงุญู ูุฅูู
ุง
ูุนุชููู ุจูู ุทูุนุงููู ูุถูุฑุงุจูู
14. It only repairs between its piercing and slashing.
He bends when the caves take away his courage,
ูกูค. ุฃููู ุฅุฐุง ุงุณุชูุจู ุงูู
ุบุงูุฑู ุจูุฒููู
ูุงูุช ูููุณู ุงูุตูููุฏู ู
ู ุฃุณูุงุจูู
15. And the souls of the hunted were among its booties.
He wronged the old man, though not of his enemies,
ูกูฅ. ุธูููู
ู ุงูุชููุฏู ูููุณ ู
ู ุฃุนุฏุงุฆูู
ูุญุจุง ุงูุญุณูุฏู ูููุณ ู
ู ุฃุญุจุงุจูู
16. And loved the envious, though not of his loved ones.
So rain is shy to blemish his land,
ูกูฆ. ูุงูุบูุซู ูุฎุฌููู ุฃู ูููู
ูู ุจุฃุฑุถูู
ูุงูููุซู ูููุฑููู ุฃู ููุทููู ุจุจุงุจูู
17. And the lion is reluctant to prowl around his abode.
It attacks the watchtower and recoils while its traits
ูกูง. ูุบุดู ุงูููุฑุงุนู ูููุซูู ูุณู
ุงุชูู
ูู ุบูุฑูุจู ู
ููุตูููู ููู ุฌููุจุงุจูู
18. Cover its wide, spacious ascents and its robes.
Like a lion, the traces of war are evident

ูุจูููููุฉู
ูู ููุจุฏูุชููููู ููู ุดูุจุง ุฃููุงุจูู
19. On its two sides, and in the youth of its canines.
The kings of Rome knew that their lives

ูููู ุงูุฑูู
ู ุฃููู ุญูุงุชููุง
ูู
ู
ุงุชููุง ูู ุนููููู ูุนููุงุจูู
20. And deaths are in his pardon and punishment.
Every year, a raid he spends
ูขู . ูู ูููู ุนุงู
ู ุบุฒูุฉู ูููุถู ุจูุง
ุฃูุฑูุจู ุงููููุง ูููุงูู ู
ู ุขุฑุงุจูู
21. To tame the bells, and take from their monasteries.
He fulfilled until their valleys were blocked with lofty

ุจุนูุฑูู
ูุฑูู
ู
ูุบุดู ุงููุถุงุกู ุงูุฑููุญูุจู ุณูููู ุนูุจุงุจูู
22. Ubรขb, covering the vast space with its torrentsโ floods.
Like a mountain, nothing stops it from the defiant

ุญุชู ููุฏูููู ุฑูุงุจูู ุจุฑูุงุจูู
23. Until it pounds his necks with its necks.
It drives Manรปnโs steeds, out of zeal,

ุฉู
ุจุงูุญูุฒู

24. Or the deluge is challenged with its striding.
Until it freely relaxes in Caesarโs councils,

ุฌุงูุณู ูููุตูุฑู

ุงู ูู ุชุงุฌูู ูููุงุจูู
25. Controlling its crown and glancing at its turban.
God stripped Ali of his sword,
ูขูฅ. ุงูููู ุฌุฑููุฏู ู
ู ุนูููู ุณููููู
ูุญู
ู ูุฐูุจูู ุนู ุงูููุฏู ุจุฐูุจุงุจูู
26. So he protected and warded off misguidance with its flies.
When my doctrines narrow around me,
ูขูฆ. ููููููู ุฅุฐุง ุถุงูุช ุนูููู ู
ุฐุงูุจู
ู
ู ูู ุจุฑูุญูุจู ุงูุนูุดู ุจููู ุฑูุญุงุจูู
27. I say, who has the spacious life between its expanses?
So I left its spring that anguish ropes
ูขูง. ูุงุฑูุชู ู
ุดุฑุจูู ุงูุฐู ูุง ุชูุทูู
ุบููููู ุงูุญูุดุง ุฅูุง ุจุจูุฑุฏู ุดูุฑุงุจูู
28. Are not untied except by the coolness of its drink.
And I entered the doors of regret, after
ูขูจ. ูุฏุฎูุชู ุฃุจูุงุจู ุงููุฏุงู
ุฉู ุจุนุฏูู
ุง
ุนุตููุช ุจูู ุงูุฃุญุฏุงุซู ุนู ุฃุจูุงุจูู
29. Events had blown me away from its doors.
It is the mistake of opinion which diminished wealth
ูขูฉ. ูู ุฒููููุฉู ุงูุฑุฃู ุงูุชู ูููุตู ุงูุบูููู
ู
ู ุณููุกู ุนููุจุงู ุนูู ุฃุนูุงุจูู
30. With the evil of its consequence upon its consequence.
By the right of His blessing upon me and His gentleness -

ูุชูู ุนูููู ูุทูููููู
ูุณูู
ุงู ูููู ุงูุณุงู
ุนูู ููู ุจูู
31. An oath the listeners say is enough -
My soul did not inspire me to abandon His side
ูฃูก. ู
ุง ุณููููููุชู ูู ุงูููููุณู ูุฌุฑู ุฌููุงุจูู
ุนูุฏ ุงูุฑุญูู ููุง ุงุฌุชูุงุจู ุฌููุงุจูู
32. When departing, nor avoid His companionship.
How so when I reached the sky through His nearness,
ูฃูข. ุฃูููู ููุฏ ูููุชู ุงูุณู
ุงุกู ุจููุฑูุจูู
ูุจูุบูุชู ูุงุตูุฉู ุงูู
ููู ุจุซููุงุจูู
33. And attained the farthest goal through His rewards?
And I comprehended the abundance of wealth from His endowment,
ูฃูฃ. ูุญููููุชู ูุถูู ุงูู
ุงูู ู
ู ุฅูุถุงููู
ูู
ุญุงุณูู ุงูุขุฏุงุจู ู
ู ุขุฏุงุจูู
34. And the beauties of manners from His manners.
And I drew the coolness of arrogance, puffed up
ูฃูค. ูุณุญุจุช ุจุฑุฏ ุงููุจุฑูุงุก ู
ูููุง
ุจุงูุนุฌุจ ูู
ุง ุตุฑุช ู
ู ุทูุงุจู
35. With wonder when I became of His students.
But it is an opinion I was deprived of its guidance,
ูฃูฅ. ูููููู ุฑุฃูู ุญูุฑูู
ูุชู ุฑูุดุงุฏููู
ูุจูุนูุฏูุชู ุนู ุชุณุฏูุฏูู ูุตููุงุจูู
36. And distanced from its direction and correctness.
I do not praise the days after their nightfall
ูฃูฆ. ูุง ุฃุญู
ูุฏู ุงูุฃูุงู
ู ุจูุนูุฏู ุจูุชุงุชููุง
ุณุจุจุงู ูุตูุชู ุฅููู ู
ู ุฃุณุจุงุจู
37. For a reason I reached through its reasons.
Shall I stand before anyone other than Him expectantly
ูฃูง. ุฃุฃููู
ู ุจูู ููุฏูู ุณูุงู ู
ุคู
ูููุงู
ูุฃูููุฎู ุฑุงุญูุฉู ุงูุฑููุฌุงุกู ุจุจุงุจูู
38. And pitch the mounts of hope at His door?
Never! I am not one who vilifies when a personโs
ูฃูจ. ูููุงุชู ูุณุชู ุจุดุงุฆู
ู ุจุฑูู ุงู
ุฑุฆู
ุญุชู ููููู ุณูุญุงุจููู ููุณูุญูุงุจูู
39. Lightning flashes, so that his clouds are like his clouds.
I will gently provoke his kindness to fervor,
ูฃูฉ. ุณูุฃููุฒูู ุจุงูููููู
ู ุงูู
ููุฐููุจู ุนูุทููู
ุทูุฑูุจุงู ูุฃุฎููุจู ูุจููู ุจุฎูุงุจูู
40. And steal away his heart with its allure.
Far from it! Even if the young man may heal with it
ูคู . ุจูุฏูุนู ูู ุฃููู ุงูุตููุจูู ูุณุชูุดูู ุจูุง

ู ุงูููุฑุงูู ุดูููุชูู ู
ู ุฃูุตุงุจูู
41. The pain of separation, it cured his burning thirst.
And I revel in it while the night has veiled the slopes
ูคูก. ูุฃุญุดูููุง ูุงููููู ูุฏ ุณุชุฑู ุงูุฑููุจุง
ุจุฏูุฌุงู ุฃู ุญูุฌูุจู ุงูุตูููู ุจูุญุฌุงุจูู
42. With its darkness, or the walls secluded with their veils,
Until the east returns wearing a garb
ูคูข. ุญุชู ูุนูุฏู ุงูุดูุฑููู ูุงุจุณู ุญููููุฉู
ู
ู ุฃุฑุฌูุงูู ุงูููุฌุฑู ุฃู ุฒูุฑูุงุจูู
43. Of the crimson of dawn, or its everyday clothes,
Perhaps time will ripen the heat of my ardour

ุงูู ููุจูููู ุญูุฑูู ุฌูุงูุญู
ุจุตููุงุกู ู
ูููุฑูุฏูู ูุจูุฑุฏู ุญูุจูุงุจูู
44. With the clear water of its spring and the coldness of its hail,
And so I may win the sweet, limpid drink, and fold
