1. A black Zanjiyyah, known for her defiance
She has no respite from her shackles

2. When the water around her is turbulent
You see the mountains clashing with her

3. A white storm rises with her
Against a people not densely lined

4. Her aging sons have graying hair
Her black sons have flashing white teeth

5. We rode to her at dawn's first light
On steeds spurring their unbridled strength

6. And we stayed reviving her alleyways
And greeting joy at the death of her alleyways
