1. Are you advancing, O father of the advancements? You are
Leaving my poetry behind and taking away its adornments

2. I have absolved it of excuses, stripping it
Of pretense, swimming in the sea of advancements

3. And how did the father of advancements launch his advancement
Against me, storming my dwellings with horses

4. The insane are not blamed when they sin
Nor are they faulted for doing evil deeds

5. I did not fear the raids of the cunning one, nor
Feared the bite of base whimpering dogs

6. O you who claim poetry, be wary of it
For you have been afflicted by an obstinate devil

7. You have humbled yourself with the humility of the ignorant
And in your deceits and the vizier's humility

8. A slap you took to my poetry in its entirety
So you took your revenge but increased the acts of revenge

9. And you attempted praise to absolve yourself with it
So why did you proceed upon those blemishes
