Delighting at the spring where they once met.

6. If, on the day we parted, patience had restrained us,
Our hands would have avoided blame and trouble.

7. Two companions did not grow accustomed to rejection,
Nor replace their sorrows with any joy.

8. The pride of purpose left them dishonored,
And separation made clear their concealed love.

9. We journeyed with our hopes to a king
Who is gladdened by the arrival of one who hopes.

10. Awake in thought and determination, he does not sleep
Until the eyes of time itself fall asleep.

11. The meadow of breeze smiles in bloom,
And the sea of generosity overflows steadily.

12. Ibn Fahd stretched out a hand to the destitute,
A hand that warded off the blows of fate.

13. He fulfilled the hopes of those who hoped in him,
Expending his hopes, never depleted.

14. The rain, the lion, and the crescent moon—when
He shows his might, aid, and brightness.

15. Noble qualities in him, leaving
The qualities of time itself renewed.

16. An ambition never humbled by the ambitions
Of other men, but always rising higher.

17. No high position attained except
He saw its ascent as his own ascent.

18. A man of such generosity that all he gives away,
And everything he finds, he remembers.

19. I spent my fervor in praise of one
Who spends his fervor on acts of honor.

20. A nature that lures him with dew, a quality
That restored generosity when it was lost.

21. He unties what time has knotted,
While time cannot untie what he has knotted.

22. You submitted to glory, O Salama, never
Singing alone on a journey.

23. You fulfilled the duty of fasting with diligence,
Rejoicing in its reward, alone.

24. The holiday has scattered cares,
Restoring joy after they dispersed.

25. So be happy with a world whose beauties
Shone from you, giving you a life of comfort.

26. And praise cultivated that did not neglect
To cultivate any affection or intimacy.

27. It left the envious dead from sorrow
And the faces of enemies covered in dust.
