2. The exalted ones will never miss his fine traits from him,
The beauties of this life are among its beauties.

3. We'd ransom him if ransom would protect his being,
From the accidents of time or its misfortunes.

4. The lofty one complained when his eyelids complained of him,
So his complaints are coupled with their complaints.

5. I told the enemies to wait, for these are but
Darknesses whose dawn has been revealed.

6. They said, "He's complained of an inflammation, a fever in his eyelids,
Due to long sleeplessness and reducing his glances."

7. But I replied, "The eye that reddens in war
When fighting enemies has not inflamed.

8. Rather, it saw him waging his wealth
With his sword, so it wept according to its nature."
