And a convent whose gazelles enchanted me

8. I almost kissed their crosses
When night fell I dispelled it

9. With a spirit that sways its body
With a candle borrowed from lances’ flames

10. And a lantern, its light and colors
Branches of incense that blossomed

11. With flames adorning their buds
O beauty of their spirits in the dark

12. When it consumed their bodies
One night drunk on lute music

13. I courted its gazelles
And which nights of passion were kinder
