1. A youthfulness from you insisted in its persistence,
And a passion, the ideas of yearning reveal it.

2. So ecstasy shows it if I go to hide it,
And tears spread it if I fold to conceal it.

3. How many glances in the eyes have a look I notice,
That kills its breath for a while and gives it life.

4. And a tear in the redness of the cheek confused,
As if the flood of hail is flowing.

5. It is the gazelle, so if it grazes near vegetation,
It shepherds the hearts with consecutive glances.

6. The slender waists tempted me, so if
I bend to pick berries, my heart bends with it.

7. I don't chide the tears if its planets intend,
And the soul has been distanced from its wishes.

8. It quenched you in blossoming Mosul, from a land
Whose rain's generosity tells of its people's generosity.

9. Should I mourn living in it, or should I wail
Over its days, or should I be consoled from its nights?

10. A land whose people yearn when they leave it,
And praise living in it when they stay close to it.

11. A sanctuary for the beautiful fragrant breath, smiling,
It almost trembles in wonder at its sides.

12. The Tigris splits the lights of the gardens in it,
Like polished metal sheets its edges.

13. I cannot have patience from it if I become distant, even if
I were compensated for its shade with what is in the world.

14. An abode of people whose generosity takes the place
Of clouds, if they are stingy with their rain.

15. And a date palm grove with extended branches,
Where time passes and its efforts do not fade.

16. No substitute reached glory and supremacy,
Except the generosity of Bani Fahd adorns it.

17. Indeed, virtues are manners worn
By the father of knights, so it staggered because of him.

18. Gifts, whenever their winds blow
From his comforts, their wanderings lead me.

19. An ambition that always flows
With the stars at its highest courses.

20. A resolve the foolish night folds with it,
As if dawn is part of its hills.

21. His comprehension spread good deeds in the world,
Whether to help its seekers or relieve its troubled.

22. It contains wishes before spending the face,
When kings despair of its seekers.

23. O father of knights, how many blessings you gained,
The close and the distant equal in generosity.

24. And how much you wore of the attire of honor,
It excelled but was subtle in its meanings.

25. Attributes from you that shame the gardens when
The light smiles bashfully in its meanings.

26. As if the rain was created from its creatures,
Or grace is a name from its names.

27. I will overlook the days when it overlooked
My wrongdoings through your good deeds.

28. O family of Fahd, your settlement in your abodes
Established blessings that continue the purity of living.

29. For your might brings security to its fearful one,
As your bestowal is pasture for its seekers.

30. Indeed, virtues gave you its reins,
So there is no one else among the people that contains it.
