1. With a soft disposition yet a resolute heart
Patience, yearning, tribulation and excellence abound

2. And cheeks their tears have engraved
A bird with magical charm melodiously sings

3. Show mercy to one aggrieved by pain
Tormenting his eyes and heart in his intestines

4. Thus the heart burns were it not for the consonant eyes
And the eyes drown were it not for the flaming heart

5. O you who migrated in vain, is there any hope of meeting
That may portend imminent proximity after distance?

6. I promised him a meeting, so he fell into delusion - will
A lodger or awaited thus be guided?

7. My heart was lost when your fragrance was lost
So, my ransom, will what is lost return?

8. To God belongs what adversity he encountered
A despairing victim of the calamities of separation

9. Have mercy by your union on a youth you used to promise
Before patience left him, long accustomed

10. He stays awake while your eyes know no vigil
With burning passion making patience all but nonexistent

11. Is it my misfortune - God bless you - that hindered me
In exertion? Or is everyone who adores you exerted?

12. If I weep you laugh, if I stay up you sleep, so
My eyes and yours are teary and bleary

13. How your love berated my injustice though they did not lie
Rather, Ahmad's love in both abodes is praiseworthy

14. One who visits him will see a greeting or visiting him blessings
Thus triumphant, fortunate and successful

15. Has the covenant we made at its bounds
Expelled Mecca's inhabitants after separation?

16. Can a pearl-like teardrop then shine radiantly
Before death a necklace of reunion be strung?

17. Can Chosroes' gate be opened by divine decree
Or can my gate of estrangement be barred?

18. The nights turned white when you did not bestow
Contentment upon the despairing one, O Arabs of the sanctuary - darken!

19. God has made rise from your horizons a moon
Whose rising dazzled the living and inanimate

20. Hearts kept softening when remembering it
As camel hides were softened by his sandal

21. If he walks on sand no trace of him is witnessed
Yet in boulders his impression remains visible

22. How many springs his hand unleashed overflowing
How many blind eyes, after blindness, were restored ungrudgingly

23. Who can match his might in battle or
Match his clemency? The glories of all time bow

24. For from his awe, in but a month
The stubborn enemy heart recoils terrified

25. In the fray, no equal can challenge him
The mythical birds flee when he roars amidst the heat

26. Yet the Merciful praises him for his kindness
Clemency and forbearance his traits, magnanimity his habit

27. The most devout, reverent and compassionate of all people
The transgressor is driven away by his sublime pardon

28. Whoever hopes and sees him receives through his munificence
What no father bestows on his own begotten

29. The most immaculate salutations and blessings connected
To him for as long as The Merciful exists
