1. O heedless one amusing himself in vanity
Do you think death will be forgetful and negligent?

2. Beware, the cup of death will come one day
Neither wealth will satisfy it, nor excuses be accepted

3. It turns not away from the small child
Nor spared from the old elder

4. Our hopes are long but life is short
Our hopes in life are longer than life itself

5. Happy is the servant who prepared for himself
Before death, good deeds most excellent

6. So the grave will be a comfort, since
A youth's companion in the grave is his deeds

7. And whatever good each person initiated
Will bring from his Lord what is most beautiful

8. My God, grace us with Islam
Your generosity is hoped for and pardon all-encompassing

9. And send blessings on the guiding herald
With it forgiveness from You is hoped for
