1. If in the evening I do not complain of my troubles to anyone,
And I have no guide but myself,
2. I have become like a flaming torch in the dark of night
That looks out from a cave or highland,
3. And I become content when the late morning breeze refreshes it,
With the coolness of evening, with roasted meat and crackers.
4. Then I share my provisions without hoarding,
With the people of the campsite, both neighbor and wayfarer.
5. And I give without dragging anyone down,
Thus excelling over clan and peers.
6. The people will know, when their raids have gone on too long,
And they are bereft of supplies, that I provide provisions,
7. And I am not of base morals that I would be blamed for
Until the son of Mayyad comes back from the grave.
8. Praise me, for I have opened for you
A gate of generosity that is highly regarded.
