1. When will the shroud split from my body,
And the soul be breathed into me by the Giver of Life?

2. When my belt is tightly buckled,
So the knots of ihram are loosened by the Permitter.

3. When I hear the call from Sinai,
Inspired for the people of passion by Revelation.

4. When I rush the Bridge without doubt,
To a fire that glitters for one who knows it.

5. When I go out shaking the dust from my head,
As a follower of earth, presented by the Messiah.

6. When the banners of the Cross flow by me,
And the Armed One has brandished his weapons for it.

7. When my Bible is on my chest and palm,
My cup and friend Jesus pours me a drink.

8. When I am given cool water from the shade’s warmth,
To soothe the bitterness of my sadness.

9. When I am chained to an ark-mate,
Upon whom Noah’s dove alighted in the ship.

10. When I perish in her love, erase my body’s form,
For perishing in her is comforting and peaceful.

11. And I have no regret in breaking the body for her,
While my heart in that abode is healthy and sound.

12. So the pleasure of Heaven is without doubt,
Upon the doors of its King, a knocking.

13. Give it back! For the intended by it is bliss -
For whom from it the noble Qur’an contains.

14. Go reflecting on my words, do not be confused,
Blinded with an eloquent expert by your side.

15. And I compose my talent’s mysteries in my faith,
Wounds upon the eye of the ignorant thereby.
