1. Prudence adorns the youth
While recklessness disgraces him
١. أَلِحَزمُ زَينٌ لِلفَتى
وَشينُهُ التَهَوُّرُ
2. Ignorance makes the sober man drunk
From the wine more intoxicating
٢. وَالجَهلُ لِلصاحي مِنَ ال
خَمرَةِ خُمرٌ مُسكِرُ
3. The miser who hoards though from him
Generosity would enrich him
٣. وَموشِرٌ يَبخَلُ أَهنا
مِنهُ سَمحٌ مُعسِرُ
4. And one who boasts of his own virtue
Belittles all other men
٤. وَشاهِدٌ بِنَقصِهِ
مَن بِسِواهُ يَفخَر
