من الصهباء بالنشر

1. With dawn’s first light it scatters
from the worn cloak, billowing, free,

١. مِنَ الصَهباءِ بِالنَشرِ
وَمِن طَيِّ البِلى نَشري

2. and from its folds comes wafting to me
a fragrance so subtle and fine.

٢. وَمِن راووقِها يَذهَ
بُ ما بِالسَمعِ مِن وَقَرِ

3. All night I gaze at that dwelling of thine,
and see the first gleam of dawn shine

٣. وَمِنها يَنظُرُ الأَكمَ
هُ في اللَيلِ ضُحى الفَجرِ

4. clear through the darkness from afar.
When the Pleiades journey there,

٤. وَإِن مَرَّ بِها المَضرو
رُ تُنجيهِ مِنَ الضَرِّ

5. it protects them from every care.
Long has it claimed my fealty,

٥. وَقَد طالَ بِها عَهدي
وَلَم يَنفَكَّ مِن فِكري

6. held fast my heart, my memory,
nor will I ever be free.

٦. وَلَن أَنسى وَهَل يَنسى
وَفيهِ تَمَّ لي أَمري

7. Can one forget? I never will.
There I found my life’s fulfillment.

٧. زَماني بِحِمى القَصرِ
فَسَفِيّاً لَحمى القَصرِ

8. My time with the palace contented me so
I spurn the palace, to the palace I go,

٨. وَحَيّا الزاهِرَ الزارهِرَ
عَنّي وابلُ القَطرِ

9. hail to the youth, so fair and serene
while the rain pours down, cool and clean.

٩. فَكَم مِن مِنَّةٍ جادَ
بِها المَحبوبُ في السَكَرِ

10. How often that sweetheart of mine
would grant me such gifts in my joy, my bliss!

١٠. وَكَم قَبِلتُ شَمسَ الرا
حِ فيهِ مِن يَدِ البَدرِ

11. How often I’d kiss that dear face
when the moon had descended with grace!

١١. تَرى الشُكرَ لَها مِنِّيَ
بِالصَمتِ عَنِ الشُكرِ
