1. No man of letters has been spared hardships of time,
Indeed, the nature of adversities is strange.

2. Yesterday my wants were few, today they abound,
Becoming goals beyond which tribulations arrive.

3. When you reach the heights of knowledge you will find
Sins accrue to your account for what you describe.

4. The darkness of days refuses to reveal
A share for the discerning anytime they strive.

5. Thus one who keeps company with nights seeking
Wisdom and insight will miss what he hoped to acquire.

6. He brought refreshment to the Prince of Believers
When his pouring clouds spread widely and thrive.

7. He who ascends through God and the King whose crown
Of glory wraps his head tightly in its ties.

8. If being an enemy of Muhammad's family
Is a sin, then I will never repent or deprive.
