However much the dawns have dimmed their candles

19. A preacher of a sermon who has worn out the blackness with decay
So from its remainder on the neck there are buttons

20. A lover according to the creed of lovers most wondrous to him
Is the jurisprudence so it has for him repetition by night

21. A freeman who saw the excess of my passions gladdened me
And the freeman is gladdened in life by freemen

22. Passion which the winds disputed and divided
The destinations of its camels, plains and bushes

23. And time, since the disturbance of its watering place was
Homelands and encampments never gathered in it

24. For the garden and the wind there is memory of my charms
So the garden is Myrobalan and the wind aromatic

25. The cubits of her eyelid bring me sickness in covenant
So have you heard of a sickness that is ever defiant?

26. Do not lie, for the sultan of love is never
In its religion, for shedding the blood of lovers, violation

27. How long, O daughter of the tribes, unjustly
The crimes are yours and for them I have excuses

28. I swore, not all this injustice is tolerable
Nor is my heart patient for what I was named

29. Except that you descended upon me today
In the heart where the correct dynasty resides

30. Most noble is he who defended a neighbor and most generous he
To whom the vessels leaned over the platforms

31. To God belongs a day on which His glory was revealed
Its hours are a defiance for the people of lives

32. As if it were a Kaaba that traveled generously
Until the pilgrimage in the homelands was fulfilled by visitors

33. But nothing besides its appearance seemed to the eye
Except the dust of horses, its wrappers

34. As if the sun in what appeared of its blaze
Is a secret for it in the depths of the heart, concealment

35. As if it were saying through the crevices
If a light departs, its lights suffice you

36. Of the dazzling of creation and the moon of its woman
I wed it by the face for the darkness of night, moons

37. And beneath it approaching, a solidified wind
Whose storm strikes the forehead of the star

38. As if it were in the margins of a perfumed garden
So the jewelry upon the regions is scintillant

39. When my master of the two noble dynasties' endeavors appeared
Then there are no dangers to the efforts of the kings of time

40. It travels high until the nebula from
Its trailing clouds in its course, traces

41. And the sun and moon are from the abundance they scattered
In its paths a dirham discarded and dinar

42. To the onlookers to its supremacy and to
The supreme people of time, magnifying and humbling

43. In his hand a pen for writing sermons he employs
As if it were for time’s wounds a probe

44. Imagining its banner of glory in his hand
And behind it regiments of opinion, insistent

45. Descending from it to paper are fine pearls
Forbidding them to those crowned, measures

46. The self does not secretly suspect they are gems
White for them just as the pearls have glad tidings

47. But for the Abbasid kingdom its call
For that reason for blackening is chosen

48. It guides the worlds with ink and thus the eyes
From it people black yet seeing

49. When the Commander of the Faithful turned to
Facilitating a roughness, travels were allowed therein

50. You left him not due to any deficiency to complete him
A journey just as the moon got ahead with distance

51. But for you upon meeting with him
Before your withdrawal from him then remoteness

52. Rather, you are a straight arrow from his expertise
For which with fortune is income and expenditure

53. An arrow which thereby the vengeance of guidance is attained forever
If its bowstrings regarding God were twined

54. Its sender strikes the pinnacle of purposes
Decisively and outpaces with blindness, warning

55. Satisfying the imams whether settling or
Traveling the abode vacated or settled

56. Of two obediences in a line that never flagged and rightly guided
Transporting them to the kingdom affirmation

57. It goes so they may establish supremacy and thus
The stars of night firmly placed yet traveling

58. So the kingdom in its abode is clad smoothed out
So you may be seen traversing the horizons

59. Like the earth upheld lest it never appear
Revolving globe surrounding it

60. O son of nobles and the fathers did not gain
Any supremacy but it for the sons are treasures

61. You have ennobled a soul and ancestry and thus the roots
When aligned are not marred by the branch, blights

62. Your endowments are the collar and the people are the pigeons so they
Fell into its necklaces or flew into the ground or soared

63. When their shiny robes are unlocked from its necklaces
They did not prosper in the countries of God or take shelter

64. Like one who hoped for touching clouds when
You shook his hand, waters in the year of drought, the righteous

65. The good rewards from us for a man have sufficed you
Whose vestiges are all in beauty, markings

66. The lion of armament or lion of clerkship or
Possessor of meanings without for truth denial

67. A lion whose den is peril or harmony and for it with
The white and gray, canines and claws

68. For you are adversaries besides the debt you rose to it
You fixed the stations and the enemies rose up

69. And the white their banners' pendants were unfurled
And the brown among them on the edges, flowers

70. And the steeds the horsemen return them with 'good fortune'
It wades and for the sparks of swords, showers

71. When they recoiled and the Indian swords quelled
Their fires and the reed spears of the line, fragments

72. The shoulders of the shields bent crooked towards enemies
Their pupils for the arrows of shooting, burrows

73. Until when it flowed in each wavering
From their pouring for the stab, rivers

74. They returned the banners and in its branches, leaves
From the blood and on the fronts, fruits

75. When you witnessed wars needing aid hot
Only conquests were produced then maidens

76. Habits of victory over enemies, accustomed
A guide to God guiding creation if confused

77. Caliph of God whoever opposed him
Came to him from both sides, fire and shame

78. So none but evil opposes who opposed him of a king
Ungrateful for his blessings by God, ungrateful

79. And his pasture for the people of time kept thriving
Poetry cannot contain the conduct of the noble

80. And the visitor of this feast returned toward you
With happiness plotted by the eras, times

81. Sacrificing for the enemies whose houses are bloodied
Not adorned with bodies when addressed, tokens
