1. To you I complained of fate, o best of people
That you might help me when fate is unfair

2. So enemies hear not that I have a need
That I went to Abu Nasr but he refused my aid

3. Nay, it must be told that I persevered
In my affair through him though it was hard

4. So remind the eminent man of his prior word
For with reminder some benefit must occur

5. And in him are hopes; he suffices me
With a signature of righteousness and bounty
