1. A sincere friend's advice is a gift, so thank it
As the ears thanked the weight of the heavy roof beams

2. Forget your sorrows and gently wipe your heart
As the resigned one submitted to patience like a prisoner in shackles

3. No gloomy days in life that a hopeful awaits
Nor dusty trails in the future that a greedy one desires

4. We looked and the sky and earth were filled with darkness in the night
With stars, but when morning came, all disappeared

5. Yet they're gone but for a day and then return
While those people are gone never to come back till the Resurrection

6. So I weep for their loss and mourn a group
Whose ascent was lofty but now they've set

7. With eyes wide open like frightened rabbits
Their eyelids fluttering, once vivacious, now dejected

8. I've met the turns of fate as it gives me to drink
I parry its strokes, my heart fortified with patience

9. I summon my pen for my provision and more
To gain livelihood, if I awaken means thereto

10. Events ran their course, and their heights became low in succession
None of the noble has opposed their fingers

11. Is there any way to attain wealth
Except by the cutting blades of sharp swords?

12. Suns set in heads, so dusk rises for them
Where their sun had set in the west

13. So I adorn the misers with necklaces
And above the palms of the wretched, grand mosques

14. The pearls are not lost in the sea's treasury
But lost in the possession of the despicable

15. Praise poems are like refined mannerisms
Meant to prevent uncouthness, not to hinder crafts

16. Knocking at the doors of the vile is a pretext
While the noble on earth have vast open spaces

17. May God destroy greed which only
Degrades the dignified souls, does greed

18. I will show utmost despair in them with honesty
And be content with the lowest living, for the free is satisfied

19. I will ward off the visiting sorrows with hopes
And see what this life will do
