أضحَتْ إليّ وقد رُدّتْ لإفلاس

يا أَكرَم النّاسِ لولا أنت بالنّاس

على إطالةِ اشطاني وأَمْراسي

أَنسَى الورَى دِرّةٌ تَمرِي بإبساس

26. Leave no loyal minister between jaws and fangs
For today none can raise whom you debase

٢٦. وِزارةٌ خُتِمَتْ خَتْماً بذي كرَمٍ
لم يَعْتَلِقْ عِرضُه يوماً بأَدْناس

27. Recall the saying of Abbas son of Mirdas
I scattered my arrows though withdrawing their tips

٢٧. بصاحبٍ عادلٍ في عَقْدِ حُبْوتِه
بَحرُ العطايا وطَودُ السُّؤْدَدِ الرّاسي

والقلبُ منه على أَموالهِ قاس

29. So direct good counsel you harbor within

سُحْبُ النّدى وسِواهُ الطّاعمُ الكاسي

30. The adornment of a sword is but the adornment of its bearer
Pride - so dress it as you wish my attire

من العُلا لم تُقَسْ يَوماً بمِقْياس

٣١. للدَّسْتِ أصبحْتَ مثلَ الرُّوحِ في جَسَدٍ
منه فعاش ومثْلَ الرّاحِ في كاس

٣٢. يَرَى ويَسمَعُ مَن يَلْقاهُ من أَحدٍ
وكان من قَبْلُ جِسماً غيرَ حَسّاس

٤٣. نَفْضَ الحُطَيئةِ لمّا حَطّ أَرحُلَه
بعدَ ابنِ بَدْرٍ إلى النّدْبِ ابنِ شَمّاس

٤٤. حَقرْتُ كُلَّ الورىَ لمّا اكتحلْتُ به
والشمسُ تُغني ضُحىً عن ضَوء نِبْراس

٤٥. يَا شمسُ إن شِئتِ بعدَ اليوم فانتَقِبي
فمِن مُحيّاهُ إقماري وإشماسي

٤٦. ويا سحابُ كَفاني فَضلُ نائلهِ
فأمطُرْ على دِمَنٍ بالبيدِ أَدْراس

٤٧. يا أَعدلَ النّاسِ حَكِّمْ في الورى نظَراً
عَدْلاً وأَحكِمْ بناءً فوقَ آساس

٤٨. لا تَترُكَنّ وَليّاً ذا مُخالَصةٍ
فيهمْ لَقىً بينَ أنيابٍ وأَضراس

٤٩. فاليومَ لا رافعٌ مَن أنت واضِعُه
فاذكُرْ مقالةَ عبّاسِ بنِ مِرداس

٥٠. لقد نثَرتُ سهامي من كِنانتِها
أَرمِي عِداكَ وقد وَتّرْتُ أقواسي

٥١. وقد شَهرتُ لساني وهْو ذو شُطَبٍ
وقد قَصْرتُ على مَدْحِيكَ أنفاسي

٥٢. فادْلُلْ على حُسْنِ رأْيٍ منك تُضمِرُه
بحُسْنِ زِيٍّ بعِطْفِ المَرء مَيّاس

٥٣. ما حِليةُ السَّيفِ إلاّ حَلْيُ لابسِه
فَخْراً فما شئْتَ فالْبَسْهُ بإلْباسي

٥٤. اللهُ حارسُ ما أَولاكَ من نِعَمٍ
إذا الملوكُ اتَّقَوا يَوماً بحُرّاس

٥٥. مُبقيكَ في المُلْكِ ما غَنّتْ مُطوَّقةٌ
