1. The pillar of faith, Ala, remains,
So he is the hope of worshippers.

١. دام عَلاءُ العِمادْ
فَهْو رَجاءُ العِبادْ

2. As long as he rises for us,
He is the illumination of countries.

٢. دام لنا طالِعاً
فهْو ضِياءُ البِلاد

3. The pillar of a religion for him
Is to depend on his piety.

٣. عِمادُ دِينٍ له
على تُقاه اعْتِماد

4. So loving him is Sunnah,
And leaning away from him is apostasy.

٤. فَحُبُّه سُنّهٌ
والمَيْلُ عنْهُ ارتِداد

5. There is no true religion
Except through his support.

٥. ليس لدِينِ الهُدى
إلاّ بهِ الاعْتِضاد

6. And none who believes rightly
Would oppose him.

٦. ولا يعَاديهِ مَن
صَحّ لَه الاعتِقاد

7. Unique in a state
Of widespread unity.

٧. أوحَدُ في دولةٍ
مُشْتَهِرُ الاتّحِاد

8. Singular in glory
And excellence, what glory!

٨. مُنْفَردٌ بالعُلا
والمَجدِ أيَّ انِفراد

9. An opponent whose palm
Is like one who is generous when he gives.

٩. وعارِضٌ كفُّه
كعارِضٍ حينَ جاد

10. His lightnings for the enemy
Are the bare, polished swords.

١٠. بُروقُه للعِدا
بِيضُ السّيوفِ الحِداد

11. And his flood overflows
Every stream.

١١. وسَيْلُه سَيْبُه ال
فيّاضُ في كلِّ ناد

12. Glory did not encompass him
Other than a brave, generous man.

١٢. فالمَجْدُ لم يَحْوِهِ
غَيرُ شجاعٍ جَواد

13. He has a hand that has not ceased
To issue great favours.

١٣. له يَدٌ لم تَزلْ
تَصْدُرُ منها أياد

14. His custom is that
If the honorable start, he returns.

١٤. عادتُه أنّه
إنْ بدأ العُرفَ عاد

15. Before the lands were empty
He laid its foundation and pillow.

١٥. قبلَ خُلُوِّ الدّيارِ
ساس لعَمْري وساد

16. So today there is no wonder
If they gave him leadership.

١٦. فاليومَ لا غَرْوَ إن
ألْقَوا إليه المَقاد

17. Guarding a state
Who treats it kindly.

١٧. حامٍ حِمَى دولةٍ
يُحِسنُ عنها الذِّياد

18. Its chest is his chest
And he is to it like a heart.

١٨. صَدْرُ الورى صَدْرُها
وهُو لَهُ كالفُؤاد

19. His determination
Alleviates its harsh afflictions for it.

١٩. مُهَوِّنٌ عَزْمُهُ
عنها الخُطوبَ الشِّداد

20. Sometimes he contends for it
And other times he fights for it.

٢٠. طَوْراً جِدالٌ له
عنها وطَوراً جِلاد

21. His pens without it
Gather the scattered summits.

٢١. أقلامُه دونَها
تَجمَعُ شَمْلَ الصِّعاد

22. And the whites of drawn swords
And the steeds of the valley.

٢٢. والبِيضَ مُذَروِبَةٍ
والخيلَ قُودَ الهَواد

23. And the brown hilts
Borne on the forelocks of steeds.

٢٣. والسُّمْرَ محمولةً
فوق نواصي الجِياد

24. From fear of him they awake
Constantly quaking.

٢٤. تُصبِح من خَوفِه
دائمةَ الارْتِعاد

25. His opinions guide them
Rightly to the path of guidance.

٢٥. تُمِدُّ راياتِهمُ
آراؤه بالسَّداد

26. An opponent of two armies
Of strong leadership.

٢٦. بهِنَّ يَهدِيهمُ
إلى سَبيلِ الرَّشاد

27. An army and opinion with him
Defeats the troops of enemies.

٢٧. عارِضُ جيشَيْنِ لل
مُلْكِ شَدِيدَيْ قِياد

28. If heads become ripe
He reaps them in harvest.

٢٨. جيشٌ ورأْيٌ بهِ
يَهزِمُ جُنْدَ الأعاد

29. O you who benefited the land
With your rising, what benefit!

٢٩. إنْ أَينعَتْ أَرؤُسٌ
جَدَّلها في الحَصاد

30. Your wealth enriched them
Beyond equipment or supplies.

٣٠. يا مَن أَفاد الورى
مَطلَعُه ما أَفاد

31. So the army is a virtue, then,
For the kingdom on the day of plunder.

٣١. يُمْنُك أَغناهُمُ
عن عُدَّةٍ أَو عَتاد

32. O you whose opinion
Is relied on in difficulties!

٣٢. فالجيشُ فَضْلٌ إذن
للمُلْكِ يَومَ الطِّراد

33. And whose plains
Are accustomed to generosity.

٣٣. يا مَن إلى رأْيِهِ
في النُّوَبِ الاستناد

34. A face whose water
Quenches every thirsty one.

٣٤. ومَن بساحاتِه
للكَرمِ الارتياد

35. And speech whose beauty
Increases with debate.

٣٥. وجْهٌ تَرَى ماءَهُ
يَرْوِى به كلَّ صاد

36. And manner that resembled
A drink of fresh, cool water.

٣٦. ومَنْطِقٌ حُسْنُه
يَزيدُ بالانتِقاد

37. From it affection for him
Is implanted in each loving heart.

٣٧. وشِيمةٌ أَشْبَهَتْ
شَرْبَةَ عَذْبٍ بِراد

38. So each word of his
Is appreciated for its beauty.

٣٨. يُغْرَسُ منها له
في كلِّ قلبٍ وِداد

39. And each meaning of his
Is admired for its artistry.

٣٩. فكُلُّ لفْظٍ له
من حُسنِه يُستَعاد

40. And every blessing that came
To be obtained from his palm.

٤٠. وكُلُّ معنىً له
في فَنِّه يُستَجاد

41. The eyes of his enviers
Are reddened with wakefulness.

٤١. وكلُّ نُعمَى غَدتْ
من كَفّه تُستَفاد

42. As if their eyelids
Are their shields against spears.

٤٢. عُيونُ حُسّاده
مكحولةٌ بالسُّهاد

43. He is the resolute one
Who subdues the stubborn people.

٤٣. كأنّ أَجفانَهم
أَهدابُها من قَتاد

44. Fulfilling covenants in peace
And frightening in calamity and arms.

٤٤. هو الهُمامُ الّذي
يُرغِمُ أَهل العِناد

45. Of generous character whose mention
Is praised by every praiser.

٤٥. في السِّلْمِ وافيِ القِرى
والرَّوْعِ وارِي الزِّناد

46. The paths to his patrons
Are blocked to the stingy.

٤٦. ذو كرمٍ ذِكْرُه
يَحْدو به كلُّ حاد

47. But his purpose cannot be prevented,
Only almost.

٤٧. لطُرْقِ وُرَّادِه
بالصّادرين انسِداد

48. He destroys his wealth
For the sake of glory built.

٤٨. وليس عن قَصْدِه
تَمْنَعُ لكنْ تَكاد

49. The palms of the people thereby
Become full after emptiness.

٤٩. يَهدِمُ أَموالَه
من أَجلِ مجدٍ يُشاد

50. As if they are springs
And the irrigation from them is slumber.

٥٠. تُمْسِي أُكُفُّ الورى
من حاضرٍ بعد باد

51. His structure with bricks
Makes the inanimate speak.

٥١. كأنّها أَعيُنٌ
والرِّفدُ منها الرُّقاد

52. There is no deviation
From his path by the praise of people.

٥٢. بنانُه بالْلُها
مُستنطِقاتُ الجمَاد

53. It picks him out with dew
While praise is the game that is hunted.

٥٣. ما لثَناءِ الورى
عن نَهْجِه من حِياد

54. Below you, a carriage
That every singer travels.

٥٤. يَقْنِصُه بالنّدى
والحَمْدُ وحْشٌ يُصاد

55. Whose proud verses
Are repeated until the return.

٥٥. دونَك سَيّارةً
يَشْدو بها كلُّ شاد

56. From its circulation there wafts
Its narrators in every assembly.

٥٦. غَرّاءَ أَبياتُها
تُعادُ حتّى المَعاد

57. One who is generous must necessarily
Be praised by one who is skilled.

٥٧. يَعبِقُ من نَشْرِها
رُواتُها كُلُّ ناد

58. And the sword of glory has none
But the poems of maidens.

٥٨. لا بُدّ مَن جاد أَن
يَمدحَهُ مَن أَجاد

59. The markets of our poems
Have exaggerated in loss.

٥٩. وما لسَيْفِ العُلا
إلاَّ القوافي نِجاد

60. So be angry with us angrily
To fertilize that which is desired.

٦٠. أَسواقُ أَشعارِنا
قد أَسْرفَتْ في الكساد

61. And be pleased to visit us
After distance.

٦١. فاغْضَبْ لنا غَضْبةً
يُخصِبُ منها المَراد

62. For us to become accustomed
To return each year.

٦٢. واسعَدْ بزَوْرٍ دنا
إليك بعد البِعاد

63. The pillar of guidance visited,
So his success is increasing.

٦٣. في كُلِّ عامٍ لنا
للعَوْدِ فيه اعْتياد

64. A month glories for you
In your pride of custom.

٦٤. زار عِمادُ الهدَى
فيُمْنُه في ازْدياد

65. And his happiness took him
To it, what a taking!

٦٥. يَهْنيك شَهْرٌ له
من فَخْرِك الاعتِياد

66. A noble month for it
The scent of bliss and meadows.

٦٦. واقْتاده سَعْدُهُ
إليه أَيَّ اقْتِياد

67. Its day silencing
From food for devotion.

٦٧. شَهْرٌ شَريفٌ له
رائحُ سَعْدٍ وغَاد

68. And its night whitening the people
After mourning.

٦٨. نَهارُه مُلْجِمٌ
للنُسكِ عن أَكْلِ زاد

69. Its lantern was taught
To light from your mind.

٦٩. وليلُه للورى
بُيِّضَ بعد الحِداد

70. The abundant light
Upon lowlands and swamps.

٧٠. عُلِّمَ مِصْباحُه
من ذِهْنِك الاتِّقاد

71. It scrubbed its garment
So it has no blackness.

٧١. كَثْرةُ نوارهِ
على الرُّبا والوِهاد

72. Thus the sins of the people
Are erased like erasing ink.

٧٢. قد رحَضَتْ ثَوْبَه
فما بهِ مِن سَواد

73. So remain for its like
What fate has repeated.

٧٣. كذا خطايا الورى
تَمْحو كمَحْو المِداد

74. Its days will come to you
In power, constantly.

٧٤. فابْقَ لأمثاله
ما كَرَّ حَوْلٌ مُعاد

75. In blessings that meet
Returning with parting.

٧٥. تَأتيكَ أَيّامُها
في العِزِّ ذاتَ اطِّراد

76. And a state whose life
Has no end.

٧٦. في نِعَمٍ تَلْتَقي
عوائدٌ مَعْ بَواد

77. Lofty in its shade
Attaining the ultimate desire.

٧٧. ودولةٍ عُمْرُها
ما لمَداهُ نَفاد

٧٨. عَلياءَ في ظِلِّها
تُدْرِكُ أَقصَى المُراد
