1. Were it not for my hope of meeting him again
I would not live a moment in my lamentations

2. My heart is his eternal abode, never wearies of his dwellings
Never in my life did I tire of his company

3. A gazelle, when the doe is called by a love-smitten one
His cure despairs of healing his affliction

4. A partridge whose crop pouch extends when called
Its knotting completes his necklace's order

5. A bough flexing in its field is a lion roused in its den
In his eyelids and the eyelids of his sword two different swords in their directions

6. With one he attacks those he loves, with the other his enemies
A moon that was my soul but left and abandoned me

7. While my body without the soul clings to its existence
So I wonder that I live after we parted

8. And regret that I die before we meet
I want nothing from fate but that it recedes from rejecting me

9. Its events at dawn and dusk make one weary of its calamities
They obscured the end of their matter when turbid

10. Except the surface of water when it is clear
Unless the Leader of the Faith shows us

11. His face, sword or standard
So he may lift from the people their obscuring veil

12. Whichever of the three lights is his
If he lowers his turban's fold, brandishes his sword

13. Or ignites his standard's fire
A king whose justice encompasses the lands

14. Gives the lands life with his might and generosity
The nights have come in their severity

15. Engulfing the people in his bounty
Whenever fate befalls the free man

16. He obtains through it an equal recompense
So the enemies were ransomed from his wrath and shame

17. And they, although aggrieved, are its least ransom
Who does not temper his nature with his clemency

18. The enemies' pursuit of superiority over his sublimity is vain
Is not the most wretched person one who exceeds all bounds

19. In enmity until his survival is lost
His envier rejoices that he has dictated to him

20. But might in its entirety lies in his dictation
How many sleepers has the night of doubt preoccupied

21. As long as its darkness covers them
The radiant dawn must return some day

22. Wakening man from his slumber
A day man will be judged and it is imperative

23. That man remember the day of his judgement
His forgiveness, so take hold of its rein

24. And His punishment, so avoid its occurrence
He gives life and takes life so seek His giving of life

25. And seek refuge in Allah from His taking of life
The cause of salvation is loyalty to Him and hope in Him

26. So hold to loyalty to Him and hope in Him
Say to the enemies, plot against him as much as you wish

27. For how many times will God protect him from their evil
After this, do people still doubt

28. That God's secret is in elevating him?
Never! God refuses that His light

29. Be extinguished by mouths
Today fortune has returned after its absence from us

30. And guidance appeared after its concealment
And the one who strove to renew this kingdom

31. After the effort of time to erode it
A youth like the full moon in its emergence

32. Dazzling the world with his brilliance or his youth
But when they looked upon him, they saw

33. He is not the full moon of the horizon or its peer
His perfection is that he ruled over his perfection

34. And his sublimity that he measured above his sublimity
A king whose gesture of hand or glance of eye

35. Determines prosperity for the world and its wretchedness
Lord of writing and army, whose troops of victory march beneath his banner

36. And when you see the black of their banners
Marching ahead of the white of his opinions

37. Anticipate the near victory of one who travels
Among the kings while you are among his ministers

38. O you whose auspicious ascending fortune appears to my eye
After its long sleep and weeping

39. If I did not intend my sight to see his face
I would not be so keen to preserve it

40. It is my love that protects my eye from seeing him and from weeping
What could I do were you to rise before my eyelids

41. While tears extinguish their fire in their water
O Kaaba, you marched to your pilgrims

42. And the walking of the caravan stopped in its barren terrain
And your visitor started his litany before his departure

43. With his first call at the return of his boundaries
Take it like a pearl necklace, folding its robe

44. And the starry pearl in its scintillations
So I thank the One who brought it near to its circlers

45. From fortune and from His benevolence
My thanks to the Commander of the Faithful for his intention

46. When the beloved of my love watered my land
I darted towards him and the honorable ones between us

47. My pearls and he darted to me with his gift
And superior to emulating his granting

48. Is what he emulated from His ordainment
And I taught my son, so he signed his endorsement

49. And pride in its entirety lies in his endorsement
Who contradicts the Caliph's order

50. In his return one day and his initiation?
The arrival of a command from the Lord of the worlds

51. Is like the arrival of a command from His Caliphs
So reconsider, your understanding is sound

52. The ignorant cannot covet your lapse
And consider the approbation and condemnation of what

53. Will be said of a man after his news
Learn propriety from the echo of a mountain called

54. That responded by becoming its caller's respondent
O you whose lightning flash no hopeful person saw

55. Without your clouds pouring forth copiously
I hoped for no quick success in any request

56. Unless your tidings were among its portents
But time with its shocking ups and downs

57. Kept your tranquility distant
Your care for me, it saw and was shy

58. And I see it has cast off the cloak of its shyness
Today I wearied of its unhappiness poured as my drink and food

59. Cast in my drinking and nourishment
So help me, if you permit, to escape from a house

60. Where my patience is exhausted by its prolonged tribulation
With a startled horse like water in its galloping

61. But like lightning in its onset
A horse when held by my palm does not shy

62. After a pasture and its sudden start
On it, whether I ride every morning a knight

63. Or a knight when I travel before evening
You made a prior promise to me, a prior promise

64. So what makes you slow in fulfilling it?
Abu al-Futuh, no guarantor denies it

65. Yet I remained in my homeland, captive of its disregard
Perhaps I will see my dear one before me

66. Appearing splendidly before the horses in his vanity
And on the saddlecloth hopefully I will be behind him

67. Seeking his shoulder's shelter, roaming confused
Obstacles prevented my mare from passing

68. So I remained in my homeland, captive of its disregard
It shackled me amidst the dwellings, and one grown

69. In his abode, his salvation lies in its deliverance
Until I took refuge in a lord of leadership

70. Whose favor is directed to its nobility
And I complained to the cruel times of tribulations

71. And my heart suffering, captive of its ordeal
So he removed the shackles of afflictions and returned me

72. Fettered in fortune from his endowments
Thus I remain, not knowing whether I became

73. Among his intimates or his freed ones
Hope lived for every heart in despair

74. When you arrived and were among its sons
And so the religion of God gained in might

75. When it saw you and you were among its chiefs
So choose the good counsel of a servant

76. Who has no heirs left but his possessions
And take precedence in it over his praise and loyalty

77. So the like of his praise and loyalty diminish
You remain like a star, rising for the people

78. In your age, long, and in your ascendance, lofty
In the shade of perfect, absolute kingship

79. Vanquishing the darkness of injustice with its light
Except that it is like the crescent

80. Of the first night in its growth
