1. These eyelids have made
Men's hearts gamble like gamblers',

2. The mother of the gazelle was unjust
When she brought it under the moons.

3. O my life, you are against my life,
And my stay, you are rain to my stay,

4. O you who lavish all that the intimate friend dislikes,
Pouring estrangement and remote home.

5. If fate kept your person away from us
Enmity of times would be delightful.

6. You control my life if you wish and my death,
We made you in both with the choice.

7. I have of the nearness of your house only
What my heart has of the mark of choice.

8. A body thrown under illness' grasp
And a heart in imagination's claw.

9. Between the waist wrapper a slender waist so
As if the belt is in the belt.

10. An idol, but it seduces everybody
Not only Muslims and infidels.

11. O Lord, take from its charming glance
And test it with the burning of waiting,

12. And with a passion like the passion of the enviers of
My lord Abi Nasr the noble carpenter

13. The debauched coquettish, lavish and valiant
Not as you were accustomed to the coquetry of the debauched.

14. And brother of precedence in a field of excellence not seen
In it but by men of race‐course,

15. The wine of youth was mixed in it
With equilibrium and dignity.

16. Other than the smell of rapture of fascination
And other than a revelry with intoxication of ease.

17. And traits if they touched water would sell
The weight of musk for a dinar.

18. Where the branch of glory is not short
And the robe of beauty is not borrowed.

19. And as if talking about it gifts
If added in travelogues.

20. So people's redemption is Ahmad
Except his family from turns of fate.
