1. The ways of love are not hidden from those who suffer it
In the presence of the unseen, it is counted among the treasures

2. Love has moved through my heart and settled in it
Oh my longing and my sighing and my ardour!

3. I have nothing tomorrow to help me
If asked about excess and profligacy

4. Except my attachment to the cloak of the Chosen One, forever
And my love for the trustee dwelling in Najaf

5. Ali the lion-like Murtaza, the young man
Of the Prophet's family, the soul of every righteous companion

6. The pillar of my glory, the most wonderful trustee, the undefeated lion
Of high rank, the Imam of the predecessors

7. He brought forth from knowledge, for the greatest of people
The sublime hearts, an endless sea

8. And in my pact is his mention forever
Flowing, and in the folds of my soul, and in my conscience

9. I delight in his praise when it is sung by his singers
Intoxicating me as much as my passion

10. By Allah, oh my soul, if you visit in the evening
The land of Iraq, by the trustee's resting place, stop

11. And kiss the ground on my behalf as you did
In my absence, the soul of the succour of noble lineage

12. I wish you come back with the tied knots of acceptance
When you return, perceiving when you leave

13. Praise be to Allah, the defeater of time, and whatever
New things have passed from its deception, you can scoop it up
