1. I have come to the door of the people of God in Aleppo
Carrying my hopes that through them my troubles might disappear

2. Surely their generosity precludes their casting me out
However unmannered my behavior toward them has been

3. They give aid to the visitor and shelter to the stranger
Support to the weak, and freely give of their bounty

4. The noble ones, keepers of the Prophet's mysteries
The virtuous ones, people of rank and stature

5. A servant at their door hopes for their grace
Their guest, calling: O people of Aleppo!
