1. I was patient with you, with hope and gentleness
And one day even gentle men get angry

2. When I was good to you
You showed ingratitude, and so it is with the wicked

3. Sweat makes every good deed seem ungrateful
While generosity is appreciated by the noble

4. We have never seen in this world a faith
That establishes truth by fantasies

5. So turn your face from the ignoble and leave them
For the ignoble are the enemies of the noble

6. The vitriol of the ignoble is like the barking of dogs
And the barking of dogs is not like words

7. Their evil and their words, and whoever is one of them
Leave him to time and days

8. Every lofty one sees the fool as lost
And so rules the law of Islam
