1. Passion overwhelmed composure's restraints
And called them to reckless abandon.

2. So they succumbed after growing strong
And you see them wavering between weeping and yearning.

3. The wine of love shook their hearts,
Unlike any clamor of battle ever shook them before.

4. The wine of love in the cup of loftiness
For those whose heels climbed the peak of ambition.

5. Master of east and west saints,
Refuge of the wayfarers and the seekers.

6. Shrine of the gnostics, pole of their comfort,
Annex of the helpless to the angels.

7. Sheikh of the zealous, dawn of glories,
Lord of resolute and deadly determination.

8. I clasped the end of his robe with the palms of my heart
And rose above the stigma of separation.

9. So around his threshold circulates my conscience
And into his line of servants flows my penetration.

10. Since I took refuge in his fortresses
Close forever on me, O Solomon, your protection!

11. The Master has enriched my eyes with Ahmed
So flow, my eyes, with his splendor!

12. Settle, my soul, in his gate,
Lofty after his nearness, O you who lie afar!

13. May God honor the light of his noble life
With a light rivaling the brilliant dawn!

14. May God sanctify his mysteries! He is succor.
His worth has risen beyond grasp.
