1. From the fragrances of Iraq's flowers
Your innermost being and ardour called for connection

2. O mother of breezes from those deserts
Your love pulled me like a goblet I grasp

3. With longing for you arose a clamour
Like a caravan beating drum and leg

4. My friend and beloved deserves rights
By your right, is this how we part?

5. I see you standing alive, yet quasi-dead
With emaciated body and bleeding soul

6. Your passions in loving the living created a state
That led me to fever before friends

7. Do you know that missing you is agony
My soul murmurs behind the camel litters

8. I yearn for Wasit, though the body remains
And embers of passion smoulder in my guts

9. By your right, if I shook the saddle at dawn
My camel strode for Iraq on impulse

10. No reproaching the Imam Ibn Al-Rifa'i
Leader of all, inaccessible

11. He shook the lions, they trembled
And took refuge cowering in their dens

12. Helper of both worlds, treasure of the universe
Ali Shibli, rider of the heavenly steed

13. He protected the family's domain and station
As heroes stood back from the race

14. His virtues make minds reel
High above even the seven heavens

15. When the hand of the pure Prophet reached out
None thereafter had any glory to boast

16. His love was a cloak of honour's fabric
Adorning the unseen, excellence weaving

17. He turned from these universes a heart
That saw in my abode union and separation

18. His were the lofty goals and sublimities
Flooding virtue in the overflowing cup

19. His guiding sun looms over setting
His rising full moon waxes beyond crescents

20. A father and passion raised him to Al-Husayn
And a people whose wine is sweet taste

21. A band ennobled by the loftiness of Ali
Rising over the collisions of schisms

22. O Master of Masters, I am
A prisoner of worries, release my ties

23. Take my hand as I suffer in my plight
And favour me, O expansive sanctuary

24. Your eminence in zeal is noble
Your ascent high climbing rungs

25. In praising you, expressing my sincerity
