1. It is time, it grants no lasting friendships
Its events come and abrogate the old

2. Aspects of a mystery, its nature manifests
Rising high for a while, then falling low

3. Bonds with time last but briefly
Till the moment comes and they unravel

4. The world's peace is bound by a rule with no respite
Feasts set for fixed times then cleared away

5. The days change its state and scene
Each stained by the ink of upheaval

6. A heart ran to the sweetness of proximity
A mother grieved and cried for one lost

7. We passed the days white pages
Stained by sins and wrongs

8. Upon us a vigilant judge annuls
And substitutes each deed we etch

9. We stand by words of pure, refined rhetoric
Belied by soiled clothes and filthy rags

10. And we are praised by our equals though
In truth the righteous reproach our every act

11. The people of guidance have a foothold in virtue
While we slip in the valley of vanity

12. This grey hair warns us though
Our youth in the gloom of heedlessness tore

13. The righteous folk followed God and found guidance
While we languished in empty chatter

14. Temptation's call compels us and we obey
Forgetting sins though the watcher records

15. We lost hope of the farthest goals and aims
Drawing nearer the end with every moment

16. Oh wakefulness, desire has shut its door
Fanning the embers all around

17. Behold, the years pass by, and these
Are months of hopes stripped from the hand of life

18. As if lying in wait for man at every step
Are pits of ruin in the earth concealed

19. So heart, leave all that passes away
For it is time, it grants no lasting friendships
