1. I shall not delight my eyes with an unthoughtful one
Never with her, even if blindness touched her sight

3. And I shall refrain from sweet slumber
When the songstresses went to sleep

4. So I wage war between my eyes and the abode
Until it becomes forbidden to return to the eyelids

5. She made me fall into the snares of passion
From which tomorrow the light was veiled from me

6. She led my heart to sorrow with a glance
If she had not glanced, I would still be secure

7. She shed my blood, so I shall shed her tears
To see the meadows of beauty speckled with dew

8. So I, who angrily repeat her injustice
While she was the one who started, and was more unjust
