1. O guide of travelers, I implore you -
Have you passed by the tents of my people in our valley?

2. And has the beloved camped not far from our homes?
Grazing her livestock in our meadows?

3. As you rouse the camels, have you noticed
Her eyes after the long journey, settled comfortably?

4. If you have reached her at dawn’s first light
And smelled the fragrance of her encampment as it stirs awake,

5. Before the dust raised by the hooves of Ahmed’s cavalry,
Blessed by his Lord with glory and triumph,

6. Pray to God humbly at that door -
The angels themselves may answer, “Amen.”

7. Remember your task, take heart, for success is near,
And in your prayers, do not forget those who love.
