1. The arrows of your love strike true
And wound me though you did not aim them

2. So my eyes turn away from all but you
And my hearing of blame is deaf towards you

3. You speak and satisfy me with rebuke
Though much rebuke wounds with its speech

4. How much I weep for you out of yearning
Yet I see from you only a smile

5. Truly, my Master, you have turned away from me
Like the turning away of time from generosity

6. I rave madly for you though confused
Intoxicated by your love without limit

7. My critic appears to blame me for loving you
Appearing like an old man among the youth

8. I conceal from my enviers hoping
To cure sickness from the heart of the ill

9. I prepare my camel for Iraq though you blame
And you glance towards Damascus

10. You look at me closely with an eye
That pierces my intellect like a sword

11. You distance me though I am near
As if I wade in darkness, my guide

12. How many pure counsels scorch my heart
More than embers, advising I leave your love

13. Knowing that your love melted my bones
Yet I turned away, raging camel upon raging camel

14. When has a true lover slept sound
From the advice of other people?

15. Yes, I will not lack the kindness of a blessing
That helps me endure passionate love

16. It warns me against the vile and the suspicious
To avoid the noble mixing with the vile

17. Gently, O crescent-faced moon gently
With an eye whose light equals the full moon

18. Let your spear abstain from love
In my heart are doves constantly cooing

19. Kiss from your cheeks the rose's smile
Dawning without modesty

20. And press the wine of your lips to me
In my heart turmoil and crowding

21. The dew of your forehead is a shining light
Revealing the dawn, dispelling the darkness

22. Your figure looms tall in the heart's expanse
And your worth in the mind's essence is sublime

23. You have made time capricious towards me
Though you have kept me bound in longing

24. I see you have counted me as insignificant
And measured the shoe though it has no awl

25. You have chosen in place of the wise one, an ignorant man
Who fights in battle with ruin

26. The love of the high-minded is for the lofty
And the love of the lowly is for the fallen

27. When an ignoble person joins the noble
He becomes the target of blame for every critic

28. You have cut the ropes of the one whose heart you gave
Flipping in love ceaselessly

29. And you have become a tribe of vile rabble
You will see what this rabble does

30. My fervor is not humbled, not to anything lowly
Even if my life extends a thousand years

31. My love's lament is like you see me
The way the resolute enter into darkness

32. I die, my fervor is my fervor
For whom I love, my fire and my fuel

33. How can the bold fear the stricken of death
The lofty souls are above the vile

34. Time has been unjust so it has transgressed
Neglectful of vigilance and sleep

35. It is confused, knowing no steady path
Stumbling whether sitting or standing

36. For the ignorance of time regarding ones like me
Some of its traits are pitch black

37. While I am of the purest noble lineage
Branches rising high on the family tree

38. From the white of face are suns of glory
The honored ones in the Sacred House

39. Following their grandfather, moons of faith
To distinguish the lawful from the forbidden

40. Mountain lions of guidance you see them
As imams taking the place of the Imam

41. He stands by their order, a mighty lion
Inheriting the jungle of the mighty lions

42. They narrated the knowledge of the Prophet
From Ali, the successor of Mustafa, lion of crowds

43. The father of the two grandsons, brilliant guide
And opponent of armies in the contest

44. From him came to the towering Rafi’i
Clouds of overwhelming favor and blessing

45. Received by the rights of a father and grandfather
A continuous succession of honor

46. He took them on and the people's leader became
Elevated in station amongst them

47. And Taha's extended hand he humbled
Despite his arrogance, every eyebrow

48. And the captor of hearts, Abu Ali
Followed him leading with strong resolve

49. Signs of glory came to us from him
Recited in the script of the Khuza'im

50. Abu Al-Barakat composed them with style
For the resting place of glory and a sealed end

51. They in order are my father and grandfather
My grandfather among the generous ones

52. So turn back to affection, O most beloved and be gentle
For nothing endures beyond the Guardian
