1. Nobility of character led me to literature
And pride of self refined me to high ranks

2. The hand of the Merciful assisted me with sublime
Beautiful morals, so I triumphed with great fortune

3. Praise be to Allah, I never resented anyone
Forgiveness is my nature, this from my noble ancestry

4. I have from Allah no fear for anyone, and for me
Good thoughts of Him in every situation

5. I have detachment from others, and I have aspirations
That rise to attribute influence to its cause

6. And in rewarding those who give me a hand
I have the intention of sincerity in my request

7. And it’s my trait to uphold the dignity of those who
Come to me, though long in this is the path of toil

8. And what spread amongst the non-Arabs about my trait
In action, the highest of the Arabs spoke of it

9. And whoever clung to denial out of envy
His admission affirmed the admissions of the righteous

10. My position rises to the breast of the book of glory
In character, and magnification if sins remain

11. And in humility I have mention of its praises
Exalted, and great is the greatness of praise in books

12. And my way is generosity, not for reputation or show
But my nature is giving and going away with gold

13. And I have true covenants in keeping covenants, and I have
Resolve for the sake of loyalty, firm against tribulations

14. And my tail has grown great if it inclines towards
Indecency, the trait of the genteel of pedigree

15. And I never looked down on a poor person or fell
Before the wealthy, my nature is as if earned

16. And I never cut off a relative of mine for his disgrace
Nor connected with a stranger out of fear

17. And I never relied on others with distrust
That salvation is in compliance and propriety

18. And I never boasted over my people about rank
Nor neglected protecting them in time of distress

19. And I never saw permanence in existence with my eyes
Nor busied myself with frivolity and play

20. And my heart has detached, should it pass by it
Witnessing my soul, like the state of the noble elite

21. And if I was absent physically from observing it
Then my heart, by the grace of Allah, did not wander
