1. He abandoned love, transgressed, and evil triumphed,
Oh what misery for the noble soul!

2. The vile persisted recklessly in his outrage
Against the generous and kind, weaving intrigues.

3. The lowly slave rose up
Exalting himself over the free.

4. The ungrateful one attacked the lion
Like a rabid dog snarling in the bright daylight.

5. These are signs from our Lord which will be followed
By even greater wonders of fate.

6. Lord, grant the ignorant opponent a moment of clarity
Then scorch that clarity with fire!

7. For meanings spread in every fold and unfurl
Like mysteries from mysteries ajar.
