1. The sincere friend said: "You've hidden love stealthily
A secret of the conscience, unperturbed by the pain

2. So evidence arose from your averted eye
Upon you the tears and illness turned and twisted

3. And with the quills of passion you've inscribed him
Like musk upon your cheek and the mole

4. So you said: “What concealment when the traces are apparent
Like the blaze of a village's fire by night on a flag"

5. So no truths have I harbored hidden
From the talebearers, nor my sickness diminished

6. Rather my concealment, like the virtuous’ restraint
For the lover, from reproach, is deafened

7. I've made my capacity and reserve in their love
Muhammad, the most faithful of creations in oaths
