1. May God tend the ruins in our abandoned campsites
And enliven the homelands without their radiant lights

2. How excellent are the spacious lands of Aleppo
May God water its fortified heights with abundant rain

3. Homelands where my heart and passions dwell
And places whose people's mention delights me

4. The abodes of dear, noble friends
Great men of status whose rank is exalted

5.
Noble leaders whose qualities and state

6. Revive a neighborhood when mentioned therein
Lands God protected from the eyes of enviers

7. And rained generosity and kindness upon
Lands of piety, knowledge and conscience

8. Of excellence, benevolence and integrity
Lands that are the adornment of the world undoubtedly

9. That drew many brilliant minds circling in thought
Lands of good livelihood for inhabitants

10. And purity of passions, water and living secretly
Lands of pleasures in religion and satisfaction

11. With even little, and satisfaction that accompanies gratitude

12. Lands of the luminous Law that is the straight path
For achieving objectives in the hereafter

13. Lands of contented people with what
Came from God’s side with original ambition

14. We apportioned, they sufficed with a piece of bread
From a Rashid and from a Kisra—indifferent

15. They gained the desert plateaus and took abode
In the heart of cities, remote yet dominant secretly

16.
They eschewed worldly matters until it was as if

17. They were intoxicated while people saw them inebriated
They saw He is the Doer of all creation

18. So they sought no increase or aim at Umar
Safe from the betrayal of crafty hypocrisy

19. They loved not white nor coveted yellow
In the dark night, the lights of remembering them

20. Turn their night, through mystic knowledge, into a full moon
In everything they saw God fully present

21. Thus they looked not at new nor witnessed settled
Through them mistakes are forgiven and sorrows soothed

22. Hopes met and difficult needs answered
To them, pottery and its opposite are equal

23. So they disliked no door or aspired to wealth
They recognized the world as an illusion and turned

24. Their ambitions away from it for the harm of its evanescence
They relinquished the world to yearner and desirer

25. So they built no homes and erected no palaces
Their goal is to feed food and lift darkness

26. And spread peace—as is known
They apportioned days to God in sincerity

27. Neither prolonging a year nor shortening a month
They stood for their Master defending His religion

28. So He granted victory through the power of His sovereignty
They abandoned hopes in the darkness of blindness

29. Coveting no money or fearing poverty
When you sit with them, you are in the presence of wisdom

30. And benefit from their honesty in remembrance
This one, for towns, left towns

31. And sowed existence at his door with seeds
That one settled among tribes

32. In a poetic abode none in creation has news of
This one you see still in a city

33. Humble yet secretly mighty within it
This one manifests and hides

34. His essence the first, his inner meaning the last
That one is moderate in both states

35. Making worldly means a secretive state
This one loves with true passion

36. Unable to show patience for his loved one
As if embers above a glowing coal

37. Sent his fervent thoughts and tearful eyes aflame
Disguised in different garments so one

38. Thinks ill of him while another sees good
If he turns his glance to worldly matters

39. He handles them with his lofty ambition and longing eyes

40. And if the noble heart is broken in purpose
Of some hopeful expectation or required aim

41. He sees the absent clearly in his open space
Preoccupied with his beloved until his life wastes away

42. His days are the pupils of nights and his night
A day, never did the passing days flow one after another

43. His hours are spent in his beloved
For whom time is sweet whenever he obeys commands

44. He gathered all things in the path of his state
His eyes, age, and passions as one

45. Some have intimacy or close companions
While others have complete devotion to the owner of the verdant dome

46. This one’s prominence is in wealth, family and land
While the other’s distinction is better than treading dust

47. One hopes for needs from the door of a ruler
While the other attained his supposition through the keeper of sanctuary

48. By my life, the people of Syria are of pure heart and soul
For in its land is the mill of the substitutes and the great court

49. The land of Palestine—when mentioned—
Brings to mind noble generosity that overwhelms oceans

50. Lions in the battlefield their ancestors sold
The reins of their tall steeds that crossed land and sea

51. The dynasty of courageous Karrar men who
Battered Khaybar and smashed open its formidable gates

52. The Prophet's trustee Haydara
With strings of every generosity binding them

53. The resolute Sword of God, Sword of His Messenger
Who made enemies taste the bitter heat of his burning blade

54. This is the choice of shaykhs, the people of purity
Whose signs and miracles cannot be denied

55. What else but the sun in the eye of a keen witness
No wonder he who is blind dislikes the luminous

56. His care excels and the states of his inner realm
Are famous—a matter not to be limited

57. By God, how many praised stretched out to us
Only to retract in humility after long periods

58. How much humiliation befell us and his inner state
Was removed and with grace replaced by triumph

59. In the army of the brutal night he destroyed them
Humiliating their prominence and satisfying their poverty

60. How many weak took sincere refuge in our door
Only to have their brokenness mended with favor thereafter

61. How many of our intended aims were made difficult
Then through shedding his tearful prayers replaced with ease

62. How many firm decisions by men were convened
Against us, then recoiled forever humbly

63. How much disgrace befell us and his inner self
Removed, with kindness substituting acceptance as victory

64. How many ailing were met by him in haste
And health reached them from the grace of our Creator openly

65. Whenever the Rafai heart turned to a need
The Merciful fulfilled it for him through His kindness

66. He left the world by the measure of its nature
And neglected it by character and divorced it in thought

67. You see Yemen bound to the palm of his right hand
For whoever came seeking him, and the left for the affluent

68. His generosity is doubtless and he is
Innocent of stinginess—glory to the Giver

69. A fierce lion in the jungle of distinction
And in the retreat of mystic knowledge secretly broken

70. Mighty among worldly people yet by his nature
Humble at God’s door in situation and travel

71. He gives his soul not to please his soul
Truly for God’s sake, not seeking pride

72. He exposes the secrets of hearts from one
Sitting with him and expresses what crosses the mind

73. His dream interpretation is like the rising sun
And his vision comes at nightfall in the same form

74. We revere him in state, age, and he
Is great to the people of perfections and mystics

75. Through him our protection from enemies biting
Despite their schemes—and God substitution with better

76. Every hand extended to us in consent softened
Through the mystery of his prayer which granted mending

77. We never saw him establish his affair
Or hint at that or conceal it

78. He is compassionate, extremely kind
Weeping in mercy for the state of one complaining of pain

79. Saddened by the sadness of Muslims and laughing
At their joys, not differentiating slave from free

80. Known for his generosity, unlike others
And in distinguishing them by his affair more knowledgeable

81. His gallantry points to the goodness of his origin
A gallantry of glory that dislikes arrogance and pride

82. His allegiance to the Chosen One in heart and intention
Requiring no sincerity of devotion to be mentioned

83. He sacrificed his association for the Prophet’s court
And struck deeply at his praised door

84. He became highly regarded in his shade
And through his abundant grace, unlike any other

85. He attained a station: Ahmad, O its shade
We stayed safely by God's protection, no scheme harmed us

86. The Master supported us by supporting his state
Thus we were content with him in name and mention

87. My master, shaykh of the time! O excellent consent
And teacher of those in your care, small and great

88. O you of pure morals, abundant praise
My pride of character, one lofty in rank

89. My eternal glory, O cub of Ahmad
Relieve me, pour copiously, and fulfill my needs through time

90. For you, my master, are my means
And the door of my hopes when my pages are recited

91. My greatest intermediary in every situation
For your grandfather, our guide, and your radiant ancestors

92. With your inner self notice me and forget me not
For none in these times is my backer in the protected land

93. May the purest prayer of God illuminate the star
Upon the asylum of creation and its greatest pillar

94. Muhammad, the praised one, in every gathering
And his family, companions and followers

95. And the people of God's path for as long as an enraptured reciter says
