1. O you through whom darkness is illuminated,
Upon you are the prayers of your Lord and peace,

2. Your beauty has watered the cosmos with light,
And your noble path has a system.

3. Without your light, traces would be erased,
So there would be no sun or crescent moon.

4. You rose with the fountain of sublime honor,
A messenger whose army are the honorable messengers.

5. In grasping the message you stood alone,
The imam of all the prophets.

6. For your glory on the steps of humility,
A status none can match.

7. You are the trustee of your Lord in the wilderness,
The shadow of your protection the people seek refuge in.

8. The hearts of lovers yearn,
For the mention of you—turbulent and burning.

9. God loved you and inspired in your heart,
Through which speech was composed.

10. You are the treasure of God’s esoteric knowledge,
And you are the champion of every virtue.

11. Hearts melt for you, and it is no wonder,
For one consumed by love of you is not blamed.

12. Spirits circle your door ardently,
Intoxicated by yearning and passion.

13. Your eyes may sleep, but for the sublime,
Glorious is your ever-wakeful heart.

14. Without your radiant face, wherever
Darkness prevails on all horizons.

15. You sat on the platform of all merit,
Kings stand before you in reverence.

16. The cycles of existence revolve eternally,
While the reins of power are in your grip.

17. You, son of Amina, are a prophet,
Whose prophecy is the full moon.

18. Your advent was first in the unknown, but
You appeared as the seal of messengers.

19. By your right, O stirrer of passion at night,
And gatherings of pilgrims swarming by day.

20. By your steadfastness you endured the flames of youth,
Burning in his heart an inferno.

21. When the caravan prepared to depart he moaned,
As the dove moans, mourning.

22. Yearning for Hejaz drew him, an affair found,
Tears flowed from him, envied by clouds.

23. His will seated him despite his frailness,
To seek without expectation.

24. As if wanting Iraq, doves fly there,
While his only desire is Damascus.

25. By God, do nights grow still,
And draw near my brother's simple tent?

26. Will union soothe my troubled soul?
For whom sleep is forbidden, exalted one.

27. A body wasted until sickly,
As if a belt was not cinched around it.

28. I am like a specter, with tears
Pouring like rain, harmoniously.

29. My heart tosses upon embers,
Of passion, the vale and the holy precinct.

30. In Fayha of Yathrib I have a beloved,
From the edge of whose eyelash pours beauty.

31. At his threshold always,
The faces of the worlds swarm.

32. Whoever attains his protection and refuge
From what hurts him will surely not be blamed.

33. How many crowns and rulers
Bowed at his door out of glorification.

34. The dust of his sanctuary is like kohl to the eye,
Healing the most chronic ailments.

35. Messenger of God, sorrow has wasted my heart,
Lost in the flood of momentous affairs.

36. No mare rears, nor steed,
Nor do I have equipment or supplies.

37. None can relieve my anguish
Except the Creator and your glorious rank.

38. My lord of lofty station, I am a weak slave,
Whose severe troubles are momentous.

39. Misfortunes did not curb him,
Would misfortune curb the insignificant?

40. I visit your sanctuary worldly,
Indifferent to the love in my visit.

41. I left behind hopes unless
Through your grace, O Muhammad, and peace.

42. For traitors break covenants
And friends commit reckless betrayal.

43. In them the warbler's colors change,
As the ostrich's in the evening.

44. Pacts have changed, my Lord,
And the army dispersed as darkness rose.

45. Advice of the righteous was in vain,
Nor did censure or blame benefit.

46. I complained to none but you
When the journey or abode grew difficult.

47. To you my faint voice inclines secretly,
As the buzzing of my she-camel softened.

48. I came seeking refuge, displaying my state,
With the sword of resolve notched like arrows.

49. Beyond the moisture of your hand nothing
Comforts the heart behind or ahead.

50. The girls of fate assail me for my knowledge,
And these honorable people tire me.

51. Would you accept one wearied to burden you,
When the train of hardship has reins?

52. Troubles have bent me with sickness,
So I have no composure or resolve.

53. Does the radiance of a jewel appear
When it is in a buried chest?

54. Help, O soul of the universe, O you by
Whose mystery the greatest sorrows pass.

55. Help, O beloved son of nobles,
With a sip of his saliva bones come to life.

56. How can I complain, and days reveal
Woes followed by a smile?

57. With kindnesses the fire lit by them is extinguished,
And the fleeing pains subside.

58. The hands of support raise me until
The weak are baffled by the mystery.

59. How often the envious tried to debase me,
While you protected me with an honorable guard.

60. You are more worthy of me than both worlds,
In the worldly and when the throngs are seen.

61. Help, O companion of the caves, I seek
Refuge through your glory in all affairs.

62. Beloved of God, help me, for my lineage
Through your noble ancestry has coherence.

63. To you through my chain I raised my ancestors,
Through your daughter Fatima precisely arranged.

64. I have no other desire,
Nor a heart entertained by ruins.

65. So gaze upon me with your rescue forever,
Through which the prestigious deeds have risen.

66. Even if enemies were men, they would
Be gentle towards me when arrows are flung.

67. But from the riffraff of people expect no
Response, pigeons are kinder than they.

68. I laughed at those of high station, and always
The enemies of the noble are the rabble.

69. Father of Fatima, O pride of the wilderness,
O you whose reign is everlasting.

70. Through you honor was purely inaugurated
And the sequence of messengers consummated.

71. From you comes knowledge and the verses,
And entrusting God and determination.

72. Through you the subtleties of benevolence appear,
And from you comes fasting and prayers.

73. How often by meaning I silenced a dispute,
Which their awe of your majesty avenged.

74. How often I enriched a poor destitute,
And through your gentle breath, sickness departed.

75. You guide every rational being to perfection,
And you complete every deficient one.

76. By your right accept my supplication,
For acceptance is the seal.
