1. I yearn for the path to the holy sanctuary,
To visit Wasit, abode of virtue and honor,

2. Where rests the aid whose shrine illuminates,
Whose writings fill the scrolls of Jerusalem.

3. Al-Rifa'i, sultan of men, by whom
In times of peril, aid is sought,

4. A man of lofty ambition that cleft
The stars of misfortune - how many were saved

5. From the fetters of care by his wise counsel.
Keeper of divine succor, sword protecting pilgrims,

6. With the pure Hashimi's blessed strength -
He charges the darkness' swelling clouds

7. Where eagles soar and young hawks fly,
As the horizon thunders with his awe-striking voice

8. Muting all other sounds within the firmament.
Signs of guidance have come to us about him, judging wisely,

9. Stringing pearls of wisdom and rubies of meaning.
To each pole its own time comes around

10. While the celestial spheres above revolve.
God has promised that none shall take his place -

11. Blessed be this! While others' claims are baseless.
He cleanses the soul of all but the love of God, standing

12. On the angels' plane, though clad in flesh.
How often did fear of his Lord make him weep,

13. And he was revived by his Master's affirmation!
How often he stayed up as others slept,

14. Praying through the night, crying out in devotion.
His ambition challenges the celestial dome,

15. Dwarfing it, though whales and leviathans dwell there.
He drove hordes back on their heels by his might,

16. As lightning flashed and thunder roared, bewildered.
The raging flames fell silent at his rebuke,

17. And the talkative blaze was struck mute.
How often his white sword was drawn in the dark

18. To return the blade of injustice to its sheath.
That appointed herald's hand makes mightiest tremble,

19. As he loosens the knots of affliction.
God helped revive religion through him, known among people

20. For his excellence, uniformly lauded.
If he extends his pure, generous hand,

21. Cities cry out, ensigns raised, standards fluttering.
Imbued with holy wisdom, he rebuilt

22. The House of Syna, carved with metaphysical sciences,
From lamps he drew illumination for the Fatimids

23. Until proclaimed their Shaykh, nurtured by them.
Thousands spent nights in his honored house, their only shelter

24. His white robes, having no other home.
Such is his loftiness - yet time in its fickleness

25. May let it pass, and desires go unmet.
Not all who clash with calamities, Abu Hasan,

26. Or exhaust pens in their ink, are gems like you.
Preoccupied with Allah, most occupying for him

27. When busied elsewhere, yet his thoughts turn to God.
He shuns this world and its wiles,

28. For it ensnares hearts through devilish guile.
With magic it attracts gazers, even bringing down

29. Harut and Marut from their lofty place.
But he resisted it, dedicating himself to its Maker,

30. Gaining wisdom, not seeking divinity.
After hardship, his Lord gave him bliss -

31. Brotherly seclusion, though hosts pressed for his company.
How often he drove the devilish self away

32. When it attacked - as you know, it is made of fancies.
How often his gathering saved a youth

33. Scattered by fate through time's bitterness.
Through him many weak gained might,

34. While arrogance was face-branded with shame.
Through his breath's blessing, devotees found

35. Spiritual knowledge ablaze in heart and speech.
Through his pull, many gained grace

36. From the Lord of creation after being denied.
In both worlds, his virtues shine like suns,

37. Known even to whales in sea and sky.
We found his gift good and sweet, sufficient for us,

38. Though the jealous withhold such bounty.
The shield of his lofty ambition protects us

39. If assailed by the blows of fate's caprice.
We owe him bonds of brotherhood, and he holds

40. A covenant with us - our life is timed by it.
My friends, help me, for I am distraught

41. With love of him before I was given this desire.
I have been annihilated in him, vanishing

42. From myself - though blamed and chided for it.
What can the fool in love say to deter me

43. From my beloved, while love of the Family is denied?
My creed is sincere love for Abu Al-Abbas -

44. I have declared it in life and will avow it in death.
The hope that my soul will be revived

45. If called in his good and blessed name brings me life.
May his tomb be watered with the sweetest scent,
