To the heart, faster than your praise's words
١. يقولون لي ألفاظُ هجوك عندنا
إلى القَلبِ من ألفاظِ مدحِك أسبَقُ
2. So I said to them, my praise of you is a lie
And my blame of you is truth, and truth has grace
٢. فقلت لهم كذبٌ مديحيَ فيكُمُ
وهجوي لكم صِدقٌ وللصدقِ رَونَقُ
