1. Your eyes regained my being
Did we meet before in some place?

2. My eyes! I know not but
Before meeting, two ghosts may meet

3. As for coincidence, I don’t believe in it
Fate controls people’s lives

4. And as time embraced us, it tore others apart
So let’s be content with its present generosity

5. You spoke nothing but the truth, our lives
Are destined like the sun’s orbit

6. And our worries in this reality
That governs us, are two-faced

7. We strive after things all our lives, and if
We attain them, we become indifferent in moments

8. This running is most severely murderous
The race to vanishing existence

9. Do I love? No, but I do love profusely
And I suffer from women and their proximity!

10. You may think me a liar! But
Do not laugh at a reality that makes me weep

11. Where is that in which I destroyed my feelings
To live in comfort and safety?

12. I called it “my love” and betrayed my fears
To live it but it rejected me!

13. This is me, I wasted half my poems
As I try to gain a speck of reassurance

14. Until when do I feign happiness, while my smile
Hides the sadness in it?

15. I did not ask for this world, to break me
Like a female shatters the ribs of the infatuated

16. When I fell, I looked and saw no sympathizer
But I saw the gloating of backbiters!

17. My chaste wishes warn you about me
Not incapable of them, nor hesitant

18. I realized, even if late, that acceptance
Is the drowning man’s rope, and comforter of pensiveness

19. And you granted me when I accepted my affliction
So I calmed my heart, and my tongue rested

20. From all the disappointment I faced
The true consolation was in the Quran

21. And your love, how did I lose it? How did
Some quotations on the wall end?

22. Do not ask, for poetry is the home of my secrets
And my poems are created to fly

23. The weather became mine after rebelling
As for my heart, it is the kingdom of my expression

24. If a man’s tears would restore his glory
He would cry blood on the palace’s threshold

25. So why do I complain now, leaning
On this poem while tears run me down?

26. I worry for all the details that
My fate does not stop addicting me to

27. If I hide what I want, I hide it
In me, fearing deprivation

28. What of the sea that kills us?
Direct this question to the coasts

29. And I will go now, awaiting tomorrow
Perhaps I will meet you again in time

30. So keep from me, if we do not meet
When salvation passes through the homelands

31. For Muslims drowning in their weakness
The world will be surprised by a different face
