1. His morning draught was from the purest spring
Till blossomed in gladness all the flowers round

2. O home of passion none therein I bring
No prying eyes or listening ears I found

3. Where youths enjoy, maidens of sculptured form
Dark mirrors that set my watching eyes astound

4. From each long-lashed one my soul they charm
Out of my dreamy world by love they bound

5. A gazelle, when I kiss his cheeks so bright
Melts my ardent heart, enfeebles and makes light

6. He shelters in a heart wherein he sows
So I wonder at one who destroys yet builds a home

7. A house of verse in metaphors he shows
Whose measures circle it though innocent, not known

8. Happy is he who sleeps in bed at night
While my eyes watchful stay on guard upright

9. Tears flow along my eyelids learned to meet
And so down my cheeks they smoothly slide and fleet

10. How many nights I moan their lingering stay
While the horizon glows, to my heart a heathen foe

11. I watch the falling stars at rest, not stray
As though they there were fixed with hammer blow

12. Till dawn brings out the face of our glory, guide
The Judge of judges, when a visitor by his side

13. God, a morn shone out, resplendent in its ways
For the law, majestic with glorious days

14. I'd sacrifice the courier whose hand doth bear
Tidings, the whole world filling with its fanfare

15. The folded lines do shine as if to arouse
My inmost thoughts until the light streams from his face

16. Delight it was the law’s eye waited for
And a longing the sublime his advent did implore

17. The Judge of judges, Glory of the Nation
Hath paved rhetoric’s course and skilled oration

18. These are cups of praise and thanks this early hour
Your morn brought joyful life as gentle shower

19. Hear songs which even rocks pronounced aloud
And birds trilled over branches, praising proud

20. Goodly are religion and world for his reign
And his wondrous virtues hidden remain

21. As if the white followed the black in sight
The days whose keen eyes never lost their light

22. Where purposes in troops collect as goal
So days bear no fault, being of pardon full

23. Then hail the rise as blessing, kindness whole
Like rains in torrents, never in control

24. For the ink of his opinions men yearn much
Else eyes of tears are naught but dust

25. His orders fly straight as arrows true
Not swerving from piety whate’er he do

26. Naught is better than his face we admit
Save the beauties his bosom guards benefit

27. Awe dons its splendor in his council ripe
Scarce we dare to whisper without his pipe

28. He understands the secret wishes we nurse
So hardly can we hide what we converse

29. O ruler protecting religion, its knight!
Winning glory inherited by right

30. Not chance but knowledge elevated his post
So rule in wisdom what your eyes engross

31. Consider the foreigner lacking friends
Prolonged his exile and sealed his ends

32. A noble youth indeed, beginnings bore
Deeds of kindness, and more rises in store

33. He came of ancient lineage, roots firm bound
His glories never hidden nor compound

34. Wealth stays not long within his palms, but fleet
Those fortunes but transition seats

35. Pure, enabled to do good, no man disputes
If sometimes his bounty shorter routes

36. No pillar after heights to seek relief
Nor sea I frequent from calamities

37. If he alone sublimity deserved
He alone in literature excellence preserved
