1. O you who ask about my affairs
My state is answer enough
١. يا سائلِي عن أمورِي
يكفيك حالي جوابا
2. The springs of Jesus have gone white-haired
While poetry and the poet remain young
٢. شيبت موارِد عيسى
والشِّعر والشَّعر شابا
3. But the call of Ali
Has brought clouds to refresh my poetry
٣. لكن نداءُ عليٍّ
أنشا لشعري سحابا
4. Restoring its bounty
It almost brought back my youth
٤. أعادهُ ليَ نعمى
كادَتْ تعيدُ الشبابا
5. O you who turned my praise
To his most high a drink
٥. يا من أدارَ ثنائِي
على علاهُ شرابا
6. O you who brought people's praise
To his door and reward
٦. يا أجلبَ الناسِ حمداً
لبابه وثوابا
7. The drink of the abode of my praise
Has come to serve you, O gatekeeper
٧. شراب دار مديحِي
وافاكَ يخدمُ بابا
