1. O you whose glance is radiant, my love for you is well-known
And heart-breaker, my heart is broken by you

2. I commanded your glance to have power over my liver
O how true is he who said that the sword is commanded

3. And the tears answered with a smile drawn from you
So between us the pearls are strung and scattered

4. Do not make my name erected for the blamer
For there is no acquaintance of my love for you, so do not deny it

5. And do not continue to pain my heart in order to destroy it
For it is a house inhabited by love

6. Is there a gem at your clear vision
I am poor of glance and harmed towards it

7. Or is there a shining star at your blossoming smile
I am arrogant of my patience towards it

8. I swore by the musky eyebrow, indeed in it
Is the book of beauty for the swearers inscribed

9. And by the tears that wet the eyelids with it
For it is the sea confined inside prisoners

10. Indeed from before my patience its resolves have diverged
A heart that is spelledbound by your glance at night

11. And the state of my condition has changed
And there is no change to the state of my love for you

12. My love and the praise of Ibn Shāh a supreme king of old
Both are in the discourse of time transmitted

13. Al-Muʾayyad authored my diction and published it
So excellent is its authorship and publication

14. So if you smell a flash of lightning from his origin
You would know the intention of the purpose is clear

15. The perfecter of self, pure of origin, pure of it
With him is grace heard and seen

16. He set up for the king magnificent views
For its embers over the constellations of Yemen movement

17. And the tongue of generosity stands up reciting for us
Visit, for surely thinking the best of him is not like people's lies

18. This one for whom towards his state is our praise
And for the prizes elevated and composed

19. And for the sciences compositions which appeared and so
Became excellent bracelets over Islam and the Fence

20. In his grasp is the red of pens and the white of paper
As if for the coolness of praise they are flourished

21. Its letters have affected what makes the religion happy
And for the letters as it has been said, there is influence

22. For God what a pen that protected the sanctuary and for it
Wealth spilled over the pages of praise scattered

23. And a sword in the darkness of battle one would think it
A lightning bolt splitting the horizon's ridges

24. The desert ransoms whether they say little or much
Abul-Fadā so there is the superiority and the good

25. Eulogies stretched out his glory and so they restricted
So wondrous is the outstretched thing while it is restricted

26. And its secret from father and son combined
Al-Muʾayyad receiving it and Al-Manṣūr

27. O sovereign whose days have shone and its meadows have bloomed
So the light and the light became manifest

28. You congratulated a feast for him from you usual here
So the dawn is gladdened and the night gratified

29. You opened the feast for the people and diction has poured out
For the delegation a feast and for the envious counterfeiting

30. As if the crescent shape of Eid in his hand
A bow over the zeal of enemies ruptured

31. Or a claw the eagle of the sky extended for them
So every fainthearted bird from it is scared

32. Or a sickle to harvest the people inclined
Or a double-edged knife bared and sharpened

33. Or a sandal Ayyūb's son's steed excellent in his gift
To the generous one of measures

34. Or bowing its back in darkness thanking
He whose grace in the heavens and earth is thanked

35. Or frowning eyebrows warning that for him is
A lifetime for him in the king's shades rehabilitation

36. Or a boat has come down for the Eid
Where gloom like the boiling of the sea prisoner

37. Or no, so say a lip to the cup slanted
Mentioning life, for life is mentioned

38. Or no, so half a bracelet put forth
When the gloom covered it with its first lights

39. Or no, so a piece of fetter unlocked from the good news
Fasting was arduous so it is imprisoned

40. Or no, so from Ramaḍān the Nūn has dropped
For what has passed while it is in Shawwāl confined

41. So delight in it and in shining eulogies
Guided in the dawn of the Feast travelling

42. The blowing of musk from its jet-black letters
Not reaching what Kafoor was reaching in Egypt

43. It said and its visions' dream did not lie
Acceptance of others over the angels restricted

44. Some of the people, a poet, so listen to his praises
And some of them just as it has been said, mere verse
