1. Although he wore a crown studded with gems
And his ashes were the height of clouds in the ether

2. And the essence of his glory was white
Love matched in it the red essence of tears

3. And I used to see my life as a dream next to him
Oh my sorrow at the distance, how do you interpret it

4. And I shed a tear that was thought to lose him
For a time, for my bad luck and so it went

5. With my first soul, time destroyed them
Leaving with their distance a worry greater than disasters

6. It gave us a cup it had given them alike
But they were more patient against death

7. Verily towards God's cause went to its extent
And in every horizon his glory has spread

8. Praiseworthy are the efforts wherever he lodged
The town became above the sky and more flourishing

9. He of pure traces passed in every abode
Sweeter than clear water and purer

10. Chaste of traits, extending his hand with bounty
Even if he had nothing but riches of the soul

11. Praise revolves around his glory hovering
Even if it falls short of its lowest extent

12. And zeal trembles for the beautiful mention as if
God forbid, he had partaken intoxicants

13. And he appears with glory and devotion aforetime
And we still hope for even more manifestation

14. He came from Egypt to Syria and we saw none like him
A cloud that came from Egypt to Syria pouring rain

15. So the pasture's light for pilgrims and their paths
What a delightful, illuminated meadow you are for both states

16. And he extended the hand of favors to every silver coin
A leaf drew near him from it and bore fruit

17. And he faced the secrets of kings with his chest
And quoted them genuinely and issued rulings

18. And he served them with his opinion and ink
With rectitude, as kings accept and ambergris

19. And he protected the sanctuary of Islam with the pen which
When it flows ink, it pours pearls with good fortune

20. And he strung lines so the finest gems
Of crowns were adorned with them

21. And he met me in an assemblage in their abodes
Far from settlements, a house and throng

22. So he completed my name's deficiency with them
And introduced me among them though I was a stranger

23. And he facilitated my sustenance with his right hand's blessing
To whomever his hands desired and facilitated

24. And he tried to console and show me compassion
When circumstances had altogether broken me

25. And he praised my efforts as was deserving
And displayed acts of kindness and concealed others

26. So why do I not praise his generous palm
To me as he praised the rain upon the land

27. And I weep with words of elegy and I tear
Sometimes prose and other times verse

28. For one who was a refuge for pursuits
And a guide for assumptions and a scene for the eye

29. And he returned to the gardens of Eden adorned
While we are to fires of grief set ablaze

30. So my craving for the world of the chaste denied
And my craving for the land of magnanimity desolate

31. And my craving for the home of piety and righteousness
And my craving for the quarter of study and sanctuaries

32. And my craving for wisdom graced by its gentleness
With early droplets that guard its purity if stirred

33. And my craving for an opinion that illuminates guidance
When the stars in the horizon of sky wandered confused

34. And I cannot forget the path of his funeral one Friday
Gathering sorrow like Thursday when it courses

35. And my craving for a neighbor who for long
Flowed with him towards friendly and fragrant climes

36. And the state preached us from it as if
A sermonizer ascended the pulpit of his coffin

37. Counsels in terms of silence, yet they
Are more eloquent than the speech of the eloquent orator

38. As if he did not walk and the scribes before him
Prepare a delegation or prepare an army

39. As if he did not live days of luxury and amiability
A shepherd as the rod is peeled so it flourishes

40. As if the pursuits did not move his features
Nor a pen attributed to the eternally green

41. For the likes of this, time portioned its people
Whether it flowed or loved, it changed

42. So whoever examines states is not surprised by them
And whoever recognizes days sees nothing peculiar

43. And whoever old age befell and did not awake
To seeking the next life, he did not bestow a thing repelled

44. As the son of Khidr sought his abode
So he drowned in enjoying bliss and hurried

45. And the son of Khidr left no significant inheritance
Except a lingering fragrant remembrance or ample reward

46. And necks of freemen who possess their servitude
And conditions of a people before he died he mended

47. Peace be upon you from one journeying
Who chose to befriend him and preferred him

48. So dress me in the garb of loyalty unfettered
And I dressed him in the garb of praise freed
