1. She frowned like a harsh bow
So the next morning she shot my obligated heart

2. With a glance raising an aching eyelid
Stirring worries that firmly aimed within my gut

3. With refractions like water beneath braids
Wondrous frozen and fluid are they

4. Black-haired with some intertwined
And relatives can sometimes be scorpions

5. No insolent passion's warrior
Feared the spears of tears stabbing

6. It did not suffice that their necks thrust lances
Until we grasped the spears donning headbands

7. I ransom the rod of outstretched refractions
Beaming from glances imposing edicts on me

8. My youth used to assist me against it
Until it turned away and averted to the side

9. When years detach a young man
His life grays yet he's still called raven

10. O sisters moons beauty stars light
planets aptly suited firmaments conveniently placed

11. If my liver endured deadly tribulations for you
I openly unleashed showers of tearful demands

12. Pouring like frankincense so I know not
Which overflows more my raining eyelids or cascades

13. I concealed my burning sorrows finding solace in crying
My cheeks scripting poems for maidens to interpret

14. My tears question my state seeking counsel
By Allah, questioning and answering tears!

15. My chastity the maidens reproached
Their ignorance reproaching chastity suffices

16. Joseph's beauty is not truer than
My blood staining your cheek would be deceptive

17. By the cheeks bare of weeping
Wearing silk wraps

18. Flowers blossoming in Egypt's soil
While blossomers in Egypt are like stars

19. Alas Egypt where is Egypt and how can I
Frolick and play in Egypt's prairies

20. Where youth and beloved and loyalty
Drinking partners and companions amongst Arabs

21. A glance kneeling at the spectacle of faces
Tying up sentiments with skirmishing sparks

22. Fate is a ladder however I tried it
None can equal my fated skirmishes in Damascus

23. Beyond reach! Time will not injure me now that
My complaints have reached the exalted beloved ruler

24. Highest of mankind in ambition and fairest path
Most triumphant victor and sturdiest pillar

25. Mirror of God's grace the masterful tribe
Filled eras with praise and merits

26. Upholding kingdoms and enacting laws
Enforcing reverence, gifts and talents

27. No eminent leader of authority emerges
Without foliage of achievements flourishing steps

28. Either with my inscribing pen if a young man
Ascends in peace or war writing poetry

29. His hospitality filled the lands when generous
His regiments filled the deserts when warring

30. When he risks himself and his people
He counts glories as heir or builder

31. They deemed me copious and I deemed them
A torrential flood and pouring clouds

32. The virtuous whose fame's narrators were called
In unison suited to his due invocation

33. Thus home called inhabited glory called fixed
Wealth called pouring not ever depleted

34. However lavished with praises
It encompassed few palms abundantly

35. Renewing with passion days
Of the impassioned called kindling

36. He took the lofty morals that he saw
Mankind ardorously admire as doctrine

37. Upholding the sterile empire a function
Funding auspicious glory a willfully imposed yearly income

38. Justice ruled nearly unopposed
Increasing grammarians statements on Imru’ al-Qais

39. If excellence were silent the eras would solicit
Many a paper with his merits and contents

40. Speech ranges between sterility and meaning
So time never lacks a suitor

41. Brides of pens delight me with those
Black scriptures stealing hearts captivated

42. They steal our eyes and hearts
Their gardens the robbers rob

43. A sorceress narrating spear blades
And narrating pleasurable indulgences

44. Ask not of their composure contemplating
But ask by them the sovereigns' trials

45. O keeper king guidance scripts his
Papers fascinated the royal scribe

46. O preceder of lofty realms with resolves
That the morning trails behind their tails

47. O opener for me in the worlds by his amnesty
A gate so I never mourn closure

48. O he whose stupor possesses me but his
Letters armory rebuffed in retreat

49. O emancipator raising my serfdom his writings
Exalt you emancipator and scriber!

50. O planter from me a praise sprout
Whose fruit is reaped wondrously strange

51. If my praises suit your sublime qualities
Then every market has an attracting patron I gift sincere praise to the truthful

52. And gift the world a unifying poem
