1. The poetry wept during the days of Mina and the dirges
In every house there was a voice wailing in grief

2. The seas of virtues swelled and surged
And the hands of misfortunes assaulted the people of hope and good intentions

3. And when the horizon was shrouded in sorrow
We knew that the shooting stars were under the horizons

4. May Muzain bring me joy for the loss of masters
With tears flowing like theirs for people

5. After the Bani Shad who now reside in the earth
Is there condolence for Shad or joy for one who rejoices?

6. After the kings of knowledge, valor and brilliance
The fires of tombs and pyres are ignited

7. By the One who emptied the sanctuary of their kingdom
And eternalized the statutes of tombs

8. If they made their homes desolate by their absence
They made the homes of praises even more desolate

9. The voice of a mourning poet wounds my heart
Reminding me of the time of outpouring hands

10. So my weak self became easy prey
And the doves of the valleys became my predators

11. The loss of Ismael preceded the loss of Mohammed
Oh what great agonies from one catastrophe to another!

12. They are gone and no human consoles me with a grasp
No human eases my pain with words

13. As if the flints of virtue did not shine from them
No words of integrity or chiding

14. As if the endowed were not gathered
Singing loudly at the gates

15. Take provisions, oh guest of generosity, and journey on
In grief, for the meadows of consolation have become desolate

16. I shed tears or perhaps I marched on
In both cases, it is agonizing sorrow

17. By my soul, the abode of virtue - its garden is desolate
As if no wishes were answered within it or voices wailing

18. By my soul, a stranger in the land and the procession returns
To its bereaved homeland, strangers in their crying

19. By my soul, like a branch in the lofty palm tree
Cast off by time without notice

20. Its branches spread shade
Onto every gentle and pure soul

21. It beautified our world by emanating grace
And covered over its ugliness and disgraces

22. And ruled over its subjects who obeyed him
While the defiant were tempted by its sway

23. It gave generously in times of hardship
Fulfilling the hopes of optimistic souls

24. His kingdom married wisdom and valor
So who can isolate the elite and the courageous?

25. It recited the brilliant chapters of its ancestry
With interlocking introductions and conclusions

26. Aspiring to gather all praise
None can equate to its mighty determination

27. By Allah, we cannot fulfill the rights of Mohammed
Even by singing his praises

28. If the plentiful rain could sacrifice its patron
It would ransom Salah of the Bani Shad

29. It dispelled harm from the abundance of righteousness
The most honorable position in the world - meadow for strolling

30. It is death, even if a mighty warrior confronts it
His claws can tear through ribs

31. It is death, no deserter can escape it
Nor one who journeys smoothly through the waves

32. Nor the lion with bloody paws
With which it can burn the flesh of offerings

33. Nor the zodiac lion breaking the shooting stars
With its repeated strikes troubling souls

34. The Bani Ayyub sufficed people with lessons
Even if their mouths were silenced in the graves

35. The ascent to their demise is towards the horizon of their throne
While no ambitious sight could aspire so high

36. Peace be upon their youthful graves but no
Peace for the fire of grief in our hearts
