1. I swear by the night of that hair, when it flows,
And by the morning glow of his face when it gleams,

2. And by my tears, released by the sending of sorrows,
And by my ribs, pierced by the stabbing of anguish.

3. Indeed, my tormentor has silenced his reproacher
And in the wings of darkness, an axe has appeared.

4. One day, my anguish was relieved by a visit;
So I said to my eyes: "Look, and be relieved!"

5. Darkness and full moon over a branch, leaning
Over shadows, glory, bending and fluttering.

6. A cheek that was enough to intoxicate me with its aroma
When smelled; so how when the reproacher increases?

7. A page of beauty I met, did you not see
Upon it a line marked as an outlet?

8. In the horizon of beauties, my soul is a planet
Over its like; staying up nights became dear to me.

9. Worries prevented me from it before my loved ones
And took me out from it while I had no way out.

10. And gray hair in my temples has bothered me
And the fall of gray hair was never bothering to me!

11. So woe to the one whose affection was plucked!
My eyes never glanced back at him when they glanced.

12. His house drew near me and his dwellings were demolished
So did your eyes ever see a cleft lip?

13. As if I never gained a gold coin from his cheek
Alluring over the money of enemies or embroidered.

14. Nor did I gain from the moles on his cheek to the ear
Encircling beads; the sideburns iced.

15. Nor did I veil the reproacher from him with an eyebrow
That saw in him the truth of glance and brilliance.

16. Nor did I still get to sip wine in his company
From his hand I received the argument of arguments.

17. Nor did I give a cup with sap and his cheek
To its giver, crowned with strung pearls.

18. Nor did I receive breasts in the chest while sitting
And travel happily while hugged.

19. To the garden, diffusing the flowers with a scent
Over the flowers, companions to the end, swarming.

20. I will compose with eloquence praising Imam Muhammad
The most magnificent of the two gardens and most joyful.

21. He is not of those whose praise I do not refine
So I come to him with polished praise.

22. I fear the critique for him so I delay in praise
Like the collection of Abu Jad’s letters from raving.

23. Do you not see that I have resorted to his shade
And warded off the heat of time's harm, kindling fires?

24. I immortalize the date of the most high with his traits
And I quench the thirst for his excellence, allowing escape.

25. I allot my hopes, which have been divided,
To that which I hope for, with open doors of bounty.

26. Generous, when suspicion goes towards him,
An introduction from the logic of praise produces.

27. No shortcoming in him but his rushing generosity
For he does not favour promising.

28. And exceeding in keeping blessings secret though apparent;
Is there an obstacle to the garden blossoming?

29. He strengthened religion and life to destroy the atheist
In his presence and save the righteous who survived.

30. Fatwas in the manner of guidance and courage
Matching the meaning of its words and interwoven.

31. Righteousness nurturing the approach of servants so it relieved them
And might that seared the heart of the enemy and ripened it.

32. Knowledge that debates established victorious
So say a science that rebutted the savage and provoked him.

33. He is the sea, quenched around its banks, incoming
And he drowns whoever wades deeply and sinks.

34. He has a pen that protects the sanctuary with its wrappings
And writes with blessings and knowledge, paired.

35. If he spoke, he left no place for the speaker
And if he walked, he left no course for the walker.

36. So how many eloquent and articulate beings
And grasped a word from his books and faltered!

37. And how many experts became like the spineless from confusion
No wonder if they called the expert “the one supported”!

38. And how much approach in speech guided me to
And how much hope he inspired in me when he paved the way!

39. And how much clothing he afforded me in Damascus
While my back had curved from the harm of cold!

40. And how much did his blessings release from me praises
That spread west and east and rolled!

41. And he nurtured vegetation from words for me many times
Watering it while young, abundant and thriving.

42. O father of good - take them from my praises as gems
That refused to marry other than their equals.

43. Select, chaste brides who deserve for their beauty
That the inhabitant of cities displays himself.

44. The generous hasten to meet them in life
And the steed runs at the mention and twists.

45. For them, if they stay in the land’s horizon an abode
And if they travel, they unpack from luggage.
