1. Make up with your cup for what you have ruined of vines,
For the cup is of silver and the wine is of gold.

2. And plead to drink, the mother of pleasure, if you attribute
The sister of joy and play, the daughter of grapes.

3. The doe-eyed one with swaying hips wanders
In a dress of light or a necklace of seeds.

4. A virgin who fulfills the tryst of joy, so
Her palm doesn't wave without henna.

5. A guarded one who makes veils visible
And a paradise that welcomes the eye with flames.

6. If it were not for our solace in meeting her
Of the toil of scholars, wisdom and literature.

7. So take and drink until it's not clear to us
Whether we are on highlands seeking rain or flood.

8. She faded and if her carrier hadn't held her
She would have circled without a carrier in the circle of joy.

9. O desire, the soul's delight wandering
Fulfilling its destiny with the luck of seeds

10. From the palm of one I have bound to me
From among the Turks, drawing near

11. To my mind though he is far from me.
Bearing jewelry and brocade, his stature

12. Branches of basil bear firewood.
O you who censure those in love, the sword

13. Speaks truer news than books.
How often I concealed the talk of love in him and he slept

14. Letting the slanderer’s tongue drag to the spy.
My eyelids poured the red of tears for him

15. The generous shedding for the prosperous golden coins.
Ismail strengthened resolutions so the foundations

16. Of the eminent house with rank were connected.
A king whose traits fortune kneads

17. After the traits of noble fathers.
Veiling might from creation though they attempt him

18. And his palm’s existence vanquishes without being veiled.
The sword grew weary from long fighting with it

19. So the sword rests from it, weary.
This is meaningful dreamwise in his nature

20. The chapter of anger cannot aspire to it.
He overlooks the reason of one who insults his companion

21. Forgiving, and gives gifts in floods without cause.
And he preserves religion with the knowledge whose

22. Words in it protect the horizon with meteors.
You will find his protection forgiving a sinner,

23. Wealth for the needy, glory for one who draws near.
And do not obey in travel and journeying one who censures

24. And bow to the blessed earth and draw near.
And seek refuge from fear and misery in one of resolve

25. Who composes praises and avoids blame.
That generous one who even if praises

26. Did not find him, with God would be like kinship.
A kind of truth, its minaret erected, becomes

27. Among righteous deeds from deeds in scriptures.
And a granter - had we neglected seeking him

28. His abundant grace would have come seeking us.
He fulfilled desires until none shares with him

29. In uttering them apart from this tenth of Rajab.
And he got used to bestowing thousands promptly

30. Even if the army’s regiments asked for them, he wouldn’t give.
How many raids on the sanctuary of Islam did he stop

31. With striking and stabbing or fear and awe.
And an aim he traversed in its horizons

32. As if he and haste were in flood.
And a dune he views the world thirstily

33. From it and folds the plain at night over mirage.
His traits that had become famous called him

34. Why this sitting not on wealth, so leap!
So he got up, working between obstacles calling

35. As if he carried something of scriptures.
Until he halted at his glory save generosity

36. That comforts exiles within it.
How many nights did the dew of his hand say to me

37. O greatest poet of Arabs, praise the most generous of Arabs!
So I eulogized him in rhymes that dazzled

38. With skill like the thickets of wild cows.
I clothed him in the garb of the present and he clothed me

39. In his gift and raiment of sturdy silk.
So I delighted boasting among poets about him

40. And he went boasting among the eminent about me.
O son of early kings, were it not for their awe

41. And generosity, time would not obey or settle.
Those who raided with what their resolves attained

42. And stabbed the enemies with the spear of plunder.
And those who ascended on the cosmos the House of Lofty ‘Ali

43. Though the flowers of homes faded, it did not fade.
A house of pride they built on pillars

44. And with the Milky Way, they extended its wood.
My God, you are - so do not listen to one who censures

45. On days of bounty or twists on vines.
You have founded causes for poetry to be said about

46. And can poems form without a cause?
You are the one who saved me from the hands of my time

47. Its hands were, after my destitution, frail.
Your generosity answered me before I called

48. When I called the generosity of mortals, none answered.
So if some praises of people are lies

49. Then praising you is atonement for lies.
