1. Each day he has a new, enchanting grace,
And in his heart, preoccupying love finds its place.

2. A youth whose glance outshines the brightest star,
Though tears of passion down his cheeks regularly mar.

3. Staunch though departure urges its case,
Loyal though far-flung camps call out and say:

4. "Change place!"
When in the dawn, the doves' leaves rustle and coo

5. As bulbuls burst out in song, passions brew,
When his abode was lofty Damascus, it gained glory,

6. With magic arts, Babylon, in its day, wove him a story.
When his soft curls frame his cheeks in a line,

7. Sword, destiny, archer, helper align.
Branches reach up, telling of his tall frame,

8. While telling the utmost, telling how high he can claim.
Pearls say the moon's sheen has grown pale

9. As his face outshines the full moon's veil.
Eloquence wearied praising the daughter of grapes

10. While the archer mocked the boasting of vain men and fakes.
When he walked on the plain, it was arrayed,

11. The stars, meteors, and Pleiades obeyed.
Not from fools' ignorance have I restrained my pen,

12. But loathing rather for petty minds, my heart's bane.
Though last in his love, I'll bring what none before could obtain,

13. For him, like the moon, I burned, an orb rising plain,
But alas! The moon has set, its light on the wane!

14. In my heart's fathoms, like a guest, he did remain,
But sorrow! For the guest has left, the house is in pain!

15. After our rare, blessed meetings, which were too few,
My heart has known many long pains of longing anew!

16. May Allah water the days of meeting with ease,
With delight and joy - those days that heartsease!

17. For his seeker of merit, comfort has ceased
As virtues have wearied it without release.

18. Abdallah rose, inviting souls to the dew,
So tribes flocked to hope - not a few!

19. However plentifully, abundantly he gave,
When assemblies praised the noble and brave.

20. In the horizon of leadership, he came and went
Like stars traversing the firmament,

21. He ceased singing, following ascetic ways,
Although known for voice, if he gave it plays.

22. Have you not seen how leadership's doors
Watch for his return, attempting to implore?

23. Ask Egypt and Syria, for in them are to be found
Traces, signs, and relics on library shelves abound!

24. Did not the Nile Delta overflow with joy
When clouds rained down from on high?

25. But no! Both its valleys are lovers of his stay,
Although settled in the land where horizons display.

26. While sparkling eyes give amorous exert.
All are firmly established in position and right

27. When said "enough" and "protector" in might.
No bond for the separator, breaker of ties!

28. No ties for the bonded of ready allies!
His pen is a branch, by the water, fruitful,

29. Yet it's a branch leaning in generosity, peaceful.
It fattens the coffers, yet they are spare,

30. Acting with gazelle deeds, yet gentle and fair.
If shaking discourse, then a scholar is here,

31. If shaking on wedding day, then a groom without peer.
When I say "Oh companion!" I rush to your aid,

32. Like stars to water-holes, lovingly arrayed.
Then say of him what you will, congratulatory song,

33. For in the shade of glory, you cannot be wrong!
Happy the return of our Minister, outcome complete,

34. Meetings restarted, lasting, memories replete!
His generosity's hand protects us from plights,

35. While gifts and aid keep our days and our nights!
