8. Where is the time of youth? I long for it,
And where are its arena and my steeds?

9. Where are my utterances, O owner of the unmatched horse,
Give me relief from my constant worry,

10. No consolation except from the breast of a singing girl,
No wine except from a goblet,

11. From the palm of a buxom lass with protruding
breasts like a swollen penis,

12. I refrained from her cup, so she gulped me
forcefully with her cruel heart,

13. Her wine from a mouth that hardly opens,
it only flows with intense kissing,

14. She sat me to light up with her cheek,

19. with reward, renown, and breaths,
Stop, O son of God’s grace, how you vie

20. for rule that people have no mention of,
In east and west, every writer

21. became famous for mentioning it in humility,
Like Ibn Abbad Al-Farsi who became

22. ravenous at Abu Firas’s,
And the excellent one now is craving for adornments,

23. how many it wiped out from the talk of Maknas,
And the Moroccan minister has become,

24. from its horror, seeking refuge in Fez,
So O eloquent Abu Al-Qasim, indeed

25. the dawn has twisted with the light of a lantern,
Indeed, Ali the generous preceded Ali

26. before Zuhair and before Jassas,
And Zuhair was not his eloquent poet

27. to soften his poetry or humble it,
The merit of his master taught him rhyming,

28. so he came adorned without anxiety,
Ali is an ocean that poured his jewels,

29. so people versified him with a measure,
And they dressed themselves in his virtues, thus

30. they attained the bliss of his bounty before affliction,
And they spent his innocent benevolence upon him,

31. in his two states, the spending of purses,
He called upon Egypt with hopes praising

32. the bounties of its sultan upon my head,
So I came rushing upon the pyramids and the eye,

33. happy with my sand and senses,
I did not stop roaming the doors of the best of kings,

34. the corners of pilgrimage, dismounting and sitting,
His merit brought me through the hand of one

35. who has a favor from God upon people,
O master, you attached his glories

36. to the house of Hamdan, the house of Mirdas,
Honoring me necessitated wearing me

37. the dress of beauty with the goodness of dressing,
I still have a life of green hope

38. apart from you while the envious are in misery,
